This is my look at the following combat matches in comics that made me shake my head. There's just no way these battles end like they did. # 1Batman beats SupermanSuperman just has too many powers and abilities to be beaten by Batman. He could have fried him with his heat vision from a distance.

Batman beats the Hulk
No. Just, No. The Hulk has survived punches from Thor and the Abomination but is hurt by a kick from Batman? No way.

Squirrel Girl Beats Thanos
In GLX-mas special # 1 they had a running joke in the book where Squirrel girl defeated powerhouses off camera. It has been argued that this is canon, but not to me. Never.

the biggest one that always stuck with me?
Dazzler vs pretty much anyone! She went up against Hulk, She-Hulk, Dr. Doom, Juggernaut, and Thor (just to mention a handful) and always won!

Pretty much every time two heroes clashed and found themselves absolutely equally matched until they decided to call a truce. Why didn't Namor just fling Ben Grimm into the ocean?

Red Hulk knocks out the Watcher
It seems that writers keep trying to introduce outrageous events that don't make sense. Any Hulk is no match for the power level of the Watcher.

I salute the endless jobbers of the comic book world. Every writer believes and wants to push HIS character as the be all/end all bestest of the best. No matter how truly outlandish or unrealistic it may be.
Yes everyone has off days, yes anyone can win or be beaten given the PROPER circumstances. But sometimes comic book writers need an editor to say...um, ya wanna rethink that?
I can't buy into Hawkeye able for bluffing Gamemaster, an Elder of the Universe with centuries of experience. In concept, I see the appeal of the idea of a blustering idiot being smarter than an Eon's old expert games entity and beating him in a simple and dumb unexpected cheating way, but really?!?
Or how about Hawkeye defeating Iron Man with instaneous rust freezing his joints? I believe it NOT. And I adore the smart ass braggart Clint Barton to no end, but he found a way to create a spontaneous rust bomb, enclose it as a liquid into an arrowhead thinking hey, this is something I will need one day? Also, how does Tony Stark NOT think of and protect himself against rust if he manages to create a metallic suit of armor?

Sorry, man, but no matter what Squirrel Girl does, it's always canon.

Batman beats the Hulk
No. Just, No. The Hulk has survived punches from Thor and the Abomination but is hurt by a kick from Batman? No way. To be fair, the kick to the gut just made the Hulk gasp in the knock out gas in the room. The blow did not hurt him. Yeah, it is a bit much, but it is also a clever way to have Batman do anything to the Hulk in this outmatched fight. Also Jose Luis Garcia Lopez.

For a regular dose of "unlikely", see "BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD" animated cartoon series. Every single episode, Batman somehow winds up better than every other character in the DC Universe...including the entire GL Corps.
The 2nd & 3rd seasons of "SPIDER-MAN" (1968-69) often had him up against menaces COMPLETELY, insanely above his "weight class". But B&B takes that to a whole new level of (fun) insanity.

Galactus vs the FF and other heroes. Even weakened and hungry he could turn them all into bricks or gelatin cubes with a thought. Once you create a godlike character and show that he can manipulate matter any way he wants...yeah. If he doesn’t win within two seconds he’s just being nice. Same with the Silver Surfer really, just not on the same level.

I love that Loeb/McGuinness Hulk run. The whole thing was very tongue in cheek, the perfect change of pace after Pak's long super-serious Planet Hulk storyline (which was also great).
