Thundra and the Thing Fantastic Four #133The Thing is one of the powerhouses of the MU , he has gone toe to toe with the Hulk. There's no way Thundra destroys him like this.

A one sided "fight" as Bashful Benjy isn't one to slug it out with a woman, especially when he is more worried over Alicia. So more like Benjy holding back, not using all his strength, mentally/emotionally distracted, underestimated Thundra and she uses all of that to her advantage. Grimm defeated himself is more like it.

My favorite though is Peter Parker (at least the original Ditko design) landing two supermodels in Gwen and MJ. Or every super-scientist in the Marvel and DC universes looking like Brad Pitt on a good day.

I don't see a problem with the Thundra vs Thing fight - she was a newish character at the time, so why shouldn't this simply have established her "power level" as roughly on a par with the Thing, the Hulk, the Sub-Mariner, etc, in terms of her physical strength? I haven't read the comic, but as kirby101 said, there may have been an in-story explanation of why it was more one-sided than it should have been for two roughy equal antogonists.
I generally find it annoying that earth scientists like Reed Richards or Tony Stark routinely defeat infinitely more advanced alien technology.
I very much agree that cosmic characters like the Watcher and Galactus, etc should never be defeated by superheroes in a physical way - and really, not even "out-smarted" or defeated by some strategic manoeuvre: that first FF story set a bad precedent.
One of the worst things I've heard about the last few years is how various Marvel writers have turned the Celestials into this Galactus-type threat that has been repeatedly defeated by earth's superheroes throughout history - most recently in Jason Aaron's Avengers in a truly ridiculous story that I will talk about in more detail if I ever get around to that Eternals thread I keep threatening to do, as it says a lot about how the whole Eternals concept is seen by superhero writers.

Iron Man / Angel Tales of Suspense # 49
Early Marvel crafted this tale but the Angel doesn't belong in the same conversation in a fight with Shellhead.

Thundra is awesome.
I have no doubt she is in the same class with the Thing.

And that’s just Squirrel Girl’s power. (But maybe I’d feel differently if Thanos was a character who hadn’t been completely worn out by the 1980s.)

There’s one where Doctor Octopus beats the Hulk that’s just seriously dumb.

Lois Lane staring deep into Superman's eye, yet she can't see the same man behind a pair of glasses. Pre-Crisis, obviously. I mean, she's not the Tick...

Spider-man/ Avengers
Avengers # 11
Spider-man single handily defeats the Avengers. It's worst than that, it's actually a Spider-man robot supplied by Kang. Yeah, Avengers #11 is just bad. I remember when I was a kid (1970s), one of my friends had picked up Avengers #11 somewhere (for around $5) and I was so excited to read it! And I also remember thinking ... this is terrible! Little did I know it was just one of a small number of bad issues from that era.
