Ok, stealing this idea from a Slack group I’m in. It’s probably been done here before? It’s generating a lot of fun discussion there, figured we’d maybe try it here?
Rather than everyone just blurt out our top ten, it’s going to be a gradual process where every day or two I’ll give you a creator or five and you have to decide if they go into your top ten. Decide what makes it a top ten individually, no quibbling over whether it’s based on historical importance or personal preference or ‘favorite’ versus ‘best’ or anything else, it’s entirely up to you what ‘top ten’ means. Just know you’re limited to 10 over the course of the experiment so choose wisely.
So first up, is Frank Miller in your top ten?

Definitely not for me. DKR and Year One are overrated, though All-Star Batman and Robin is (in my opinion) surprisingly underrated. His work on Daredevil was fantastic, but not enough to earn him the Top 10 for me.

Nope
(To clarify--are you listing artists and writers? Just artist/writers?)

Nope (To clarify--are you listing artists and writers? Just artist/writers?) You’ll find out as we go along. No rules will be clarified or explained (I’m making this up as I go).

I’ve enjoyed his work, but there’s also a lot of his stuff I have not enjoyed, so it’ll have to be a no.

Frank is not, but in the mid-80's he most certainly was. Both as a writer, artist, and writer/artist at various times on Daredevil (series and "Love and War" GN), Wolverine, Ronin, Elektra: Assassin, and Dark Knight Returns.
At the time this was some pretty cutting edge stuff, and I thought he was great (and perfect for my moody early teen years lol). I've told this story awhile back, but I also went to the same high school as Frank (many years after he had graduated), and his old art school teacher was there (he was my art teacher as well, though somehow did not translate into the same artistic career!) I remember when DKR took off, Frank sent a bunch of autographed swag to him as a thank you. And indeed, as I studied illustration, it was him on Dark Knight (though later I realized it was probably more Klaus Jansen I was picking up on) and Sienkiewicz who really started to make me rethink my approach to drawing.
But candidly Frank has not aged all that well with me. I kind of just moved on to be honest.

Trevor’s Day One Response and Wrap—Up Frank Miller is an easy in for me. While pretty much everything he’s done post 1990 or so has been disappointing, he’s the writer and/or artist on several of my favorite works. Dark Knight Returns and Ronin were game changers. His work on Daredevil from the regular run to Elektra: Assassin are still favorites. Sin City is stellar, and Batman: Year One is perhaps my favorite Batman tale. That five or so year period will likely never be topped imho. So as much as I hate some of his later work, and can’t forgive the travesty of what he did to The Spirit, no other creator has as many things in my top twenty or so works.
More negatives than I thought, but I guess we skew a bit older here.

While I liked his Daredevil work and Batman Year One and Dark Knight Returns... He is not on my top ten list.

Miller's okay, but he wouldn't make my Top Ten. Probably not even my Top 25.

Without actually figuring out who my top 10 is and just saying top tier instead to reflect those who could be in it, Miller wouldn't make the cut for top tier for me. He would however be in that second tier of creators for me. My appreciation for Miller has fluctuated over the years, but when I read the Miller Eisner interviews my appreciation for his understanding of the medium itself and how to manipulate the elements of the medium to tell stories grew in leaps and bounds. I don't always appreciate his stylistic choices, but I deeply respect his understanding of the nature of telling stories visually and how to do so.

Frank Miller, yes. Daredevil still looks ahead of its time, and Elektra: Assassin is still my all-time favorite finite series. Sin City might not be exactly to my tastes, but there's no denying the look of the art. I enjoy the Dark Knight followups.

Mr 'Goddamn Batman' and 'Batman should murder every Muslim on Earth'? As much as I love Sin City, that's going to be a hard No from me.

I love Miller's DD and really like Year One. I suspect I wouldn't be as high on Dark Knight or Sin City today as I was as a twentysomething. A lot of his later stuff is just not very good. No for me
