This is not an easy question, but I'm thinking Hawkeye or Batman. They think on their feet and find unconventional ways out of situations. Um, how exactly does Batman qualify as one of "Marvel's smartest non-scientists"?
Cei-U! I summon the four-color faux pas?
I never thought of him as a scientist, he's more of a guy who knows about every skill. Plus, when's the last time he did any science work ?

It's early and George hasn't had his coffee yet.

Dr. Strange. He was a neurosurgeon, which requires a lot of intelligence, and he has subsequently had to master the mind-bending complexities of magic and multiple dimensions.

He counts. As a matter of fact he is the one I was thinking of for my choice

Maybe Icctrombone meant the Shroud. Or Moon Knight. Or Nighthawk. I love him; but, Nighthawk is a moron. That was abundantly clear, after reading the sum total of Defenders, for my review thread. Moon Knight can't even keep his identities straight! Not sure I'd call Shroud a Batman analog....he's more of a Green Hornet type, ie hero masquerading as a villain to take down other villains.

I immediately thought of Batman myself, and only reread the headline again just in time.

Cyclops had been shown to be a pretty smart cookie, before he was turned into a sap, manipulated by everyone in a skirt.
To be fair, the two aren't necessarily mutually exclusive.

How about this guy? I mean, his name is Supreme Intelligence, after all. But wasn't he supposed to be the collective mind of all the greatest Kree thinkers, some of whom would have been scientists, presumably?

I think a few of the magic and mystic-type characters would be good candidates - Strange, the Ancient One,... I assume we're leaving out gods and demons and so on, or Loki would be an obvious choice.
How about Agatha Harkness? The proverbial Wise Woman.
