Not sure it's my very favourite but one of the best I can think of right now is XTC's Supergirl, from the Skylarking album.

Probably this one, mainly because it kills some Batman fans that this stuff even exists... Help me, please! All I can hear is "The Joker gets drunk, yes, the Joker gets drunk..." Somebody, please rid me of this mondegreen! Also, I hate this thread because it reminds me of "Marvel Group" by Mother Earth. For my vengeance, I will share it once again. Listen if you dare and feel the pain! But here's my favorite; maybe over its 8 minute duration it will wipe Mother Earth out of my mind:

Good call on Anthrax and Satriani, supercat. Satriani also did Back to Shalla-Bal on Flying in a Blue Dream. And I think that there was one other mentioning a Silver Surfer character or place. I know Hill of the Skull is Thanos' theme in my head also from Surfing with the Alien

Mine would have to be either Donovan's "Sunshine Superman" or Paul McCartney's "Magneto and Titanium Man" because, yes, I'm old. I will also admit to having a soft spot for the theme song from the 1960's Spider-Man cartoon. Cei-U! I summon the titanic tunes! Two great choices. McCartney (with Wings) delivered a fun version of the song as part of the massive Wings Over America tour: Fun memories. The topic: i'm not sure if theme songs from superhero productions count, but if they do, Neal Hefti's main and end credits themes for the '66 - '68 Batman tv series would get a nod. Despite the increasingly silly tone of the series as the seasons wore on, the themes had a great, driving sense of urgency about them:

I was front-and-center at the concert in the Kingdome in early '76. I swear I was still vibrating from Paul's bass two days later.
Cei-U! I summon the show of a lifetime!

Wow, this band made a song about Nemesis the Warlock, and he's in the video too!

I gotta vote for the John Williams Superman score from ‘78. I can’t remember the lyrics, but the music is great. The lyrics are Superman Superman Supe Supe Supe Superman Superman Supe Supe Supe SUPERMAAAAAN!

And for the most obscure character.... Ookla the Mok (love that name) brings us
The Theme From Super-Skrull, in the tradition of the old Marvel "animated" shows.

The Sgt. Rock song I was familiar with but I didn't know about Brainiac's Daughter - never have heard much Dukes of Stratosfear.
