I made an eBay seller an offer on a lot of undergrounds that was accepted, so 8 books for $25 with shipping. {Probably have to hide the image}
At what point does an Indy book get the 'Underground' label to it?

I consider "underground" comics (or comix) the ones that came out before the explosion of dedicated comic shops in the mid-70s. I see the publication of Arcade #1 in '75 as the end of the wave of undergrounds that started w/ Zap #1.
I can't be sure of this, but I think most of them also have "Adults only" on the cover, since before that, the idea that a comic book wouldn't be appropriate for children was pretty much inconceivable in the US.

Picked up a few things this weekend, at a local shop (20% off everything sale), plus I had a small order arrive from Lonestar/MCS.
It's the usual mish-mash of stuff, but I did finally complete my Nick Fury run and my Tom Strong run. Also picked up another Daredevil issue (only 6 more to go), and an early Doctor Solar issue-- I need 3 more to complete this series. Picked up one more Joker issue (also need 3 to complete this series). Last, a couple of really nice Golden Age books in Long Bow and the last issue of Big Shot, featuring Skyman.

"Reno Jones (a Jim Brown stand-in)"That makes 3 different Marvel characters who were based on Jim Brown... Reno Jones, Gunhawk
Blade, Vampire Hunter
Luke Cage, Hero For Hire There was a character in Master of Kung Fu, Rufus "Super-Midnight" Carter, who you could argue was based on Jim Brown also. Would have made more sense to base him on Jim Kelly, but there seemed to be more of Brown than Kelly in him, to me.

Some think this 70's series was an inspiration for 2013's Django Unchained movie which was the highest grossing Quentin Tarantino film that starred Jaime Fox. Oh, it definitely was. Not only is the basic plot identical, more importantly Tarantino said it was! There was a comic book adaptation of Django Unchained, and in the intro, Tarantino wrote about his love of western comics - specifically citing Gunhawks as the best of them and saying that he always thought it should have been a movie: Wow.. he calls out Yang, giving Charlton some love. Pretty cool!

Did wind up ordering the second Conan the Barbarian Epic Collection from Amazon on Sunday, and it was delivered on Tuesday. Have the first 26 issues in collected format, as well as 15-26 as floppies, then 27-115 in floppie only.
Also bought The Doll's House TPB today, collecting Sandman 9-16, marking this as my Sandman TPB purchase for April.

Added another Matt Baker cover to the collection via ebay. This one has Joe Kubert, Doug Wildey and Matt Baker on interiors (well on reprints collected in the book), so has lots of artists I seek out. It's little rough (G-) but that's really the only way I am going to get Baker covers in my budget, so I am ok with that. Hawk #9 (cover dated November 1954) -M

So those undergrounds I ordered showed up already. Like this. In the rain. Unbagged.
They seem no worse for wear, but I'm beginning to realize that underground fans aren't as fastidious as other comic collectors.

Probably too busy looking for stems, seeds, old roaches and resin scrapings in the sofa cushions. That takes priority over the hassle of properly packaging comix for da man...

I got a book last week that also appeared without a bag or board and it was fine. Today I got a book and the carrier left it out on my stoop in the rain. It wasn't damaged because of the packaging and it had a bag too. This completes the 7 issue series. Yeee haaaa

2 years ago, I was forced to start renting a P.O. Box, at the Post Office near where I do my food shopping, because SOMEBODY on my street had, on at least 2 occasions (and maybe 3) TAMPERED with my mail. They ripped open mail-order packages, left the item in my box, but the cardboard packaging was left on the steps or the sidewalk.
It's an extra expense and hassle I shouldn't have to deal with, but, doing this has removed a TON of stress. And I was already right next to the Post Office once a week anyway.
Now the only hassle (apart from waiting in lines some days) is, some sellers insist on using delivery services that DO NOT deliver to the Post Office. (GRRRRRRRR)

I got something out of character today. Total impulse purchase when someone listed this accidentally in the Romance category on ebay, at a nice discount from the current going rate. I'll put it behind spoilers so you can try to guess the book.
