This past year has been hard as the forum has lost many members I really enjoyed interacting with. Some left like mecha and taxidriver. Some haven't posted in a long time like mrjupiter. My questions are do you think this was this more than usual and does anyone reach out to those who haven't posted in a long time?

My questions are do you think this was this more than usual and does anyone reach out to those who haven't posted in a long time? I PM'd mecha, but got no response. Didn't have a personal email address for him so couldn't reach out any other way. Some members return with new names and avatars. For instance, Jeddak just mentioned in the Regrettable Superheroes thread that he used to post as Jodoc. I'm sure there are others who have done this. When you look at the roster of members, you see quite a large number who post just a few times and then vanish. Don't know if the number of members who stay for a while and then leave is more or less lately than usual, though.

I corresponded with Ish Kabibble for a bit by e-mail after he left. But I'm honestly bad about keeping in touch with people if there isn't a handy platform.
I'm friends with Dan Bailey on Facebook and still interact with him there. He just has other interests than comics at this point.

do you think this was this more than usual? It seemed so. I think we have enough to append an "In Memorium" section to the Jamie Awards.

I correspond with taxidriver1980 a little. I both understand and don't understand there. I can accept where some have simply gone off to other interests. The 'ragequit' or mic drop thing is a well known phenomenon, like batsywatsy did... a moment of upset and why am I here if I'm not enjoying it... feeling singled out for criticism unfairly somehow, but that's a momentary feeling eclipsing that there are other times and that there can be again. I think there can be cultural differences sometimes despite a shared love of good comic books, aside from this writer/artist is terrible vs. that's someone's favorite. I'm a bit surprised I'm still here in that my love for comics has reignited more than I would ever have expected. A half dozen years ago I still had couple decades long barely there interest. I've enjoyed digging out pockets of (affordable) goodness from the 1988-onwards past (on top of getting some of the '70s comics I had once or which I'd wanted back before the internet really got going). I had written off all Marvel and DC and similar as being all hulk-sized muscles and grimacing faces with deliberately ugly stories. I really owe it to two comics; Avengers #1 1/2 and X-Men: The Hidden Years #1 that sat in the boyfriend's recording studio office for years before I glommed onto them and eventually, almost grudgingly, decided to look for X #2.Thanks to whoever left those behind or gave them as samples!

I'm seasonal, come and go....some people hate me cuz I'm a Trump supporter and things could get toxic in that old political thread.....but it's ok to ignore or ghost me, I just stick to a few threads anyway. Started of as Ultimate Jezebel, had quite a few 'reincarnations', some of those 'Deleted' accounts are mine.
Came back because of the pandemic, maybe one last chance for a fling....

I'm sure many of us suspected this... You have a distinct "voice"...

I am wondering about those like @mrjupiter who posted frequently then abruptly stopped. I believe he stopped about a year ago.

You'd thought the politics thread being closed would have stopped the flow of people leaving. As some did leave because of it or post very sparsely.
One aside personally for myself, but otherwise I don't get the rage quit mentality of the internet. You have all the time in the world to form a post and iron out your thoughts and let the knee jerk reaction play out before posting. But I'm super laid back in 95% of life.
Also welcome back Ms Jezebel, good to see you again. It's been boring not having anyone to debate about Rob Liefield with. ;-)
Edit: Also I miss Dan. Great guy.

Why not send him a personal message? I don't think he would mind; in my experience people tend to be flattered when someone notices they're been gone for a while. Note, not everyone has that PM notification turned on (or they turn it off). So it's not guaranteed he'll be notified, but it's worth a shot.

might be an unpopular opinion, but an honest one: those that leave? that was their choice. just like it will be their choice if they decide to come back. but personally, i don't "wonder" as I don't allow folks to live in my head rent free these days - it's been years since I've thought about some of the folks from BendisBoards, or CBR. Those that I was really good friends with? I'm still friends with via FB, or online elsewhere, or here, even
those that decided to take off with no explanation (or drop me as a FB friend)? Not my issue, so really don't spare them a thought.

I think Ive mentioned before when this subject came up that I regret the absence of Dan Bailey and Ish Kabibble in particular, for the selfish reason that they were into a lot of the same kind of stuff I am in terms of music and pop culutre and so on.
But I'm sorry to see anyone leave, even if I never interacted with them much personally. Like Taxidriver, who left recently - I don't think I ever talked to him that much but I always enjoyed reading his posts and the various threads he started.

IMO this is a unique community so when someone leaves I feel sad. I like the escape from real life for awhile and share with others our love of classic comics and other stuff.
