Just a few more thoughts on this: It looks like we lost more folks this year because of proboards' new privacy policy. Now, when a member self-deletes, instead of their username remaining, it is replaced with "Deleted" which draws a lot more attention to the absence. So many threads around here now begin with "Deleted," though, as rags pointed out, most of those are her We have lost some people we all miss. The absences of Mecha and taxi are certainly felt. What you don't see, though, is how many folks we've lost that have quietly come back. We regained several classic members in the past two years, and I'm quite happy about it -- one just this past month. As for Dan, I'm still friends with him on FB. To the best of my knowledge, he has no ill-will towards the community. He's simply moved on for the time being. And while I don't personally have a line of communication with Ish, he continues to log on to the site semi-frequently, most recently only two days ago. He just hasn't chosen to participate. I love that you all care and are concerned when members depart. That's what a great community does. But don't forget to welcome back the ones who have quietly rejoined us!

I'm seasonal, come and go....some people hate me cuz I'm a Trump supporter and things could get toxic I just hope we can all agree that Planet Earth by Duran Duran is still a really cool song! WHA.......... ........ ......... Nah, it's okay. Not my favorite Duran Duran Song, but its good. There's always something about the first song from a band that you hear, that grabs your attention. For me, it was Hungry Like the Wolf. MTV was my gateway to New Wave/Post Punk/New Romantics/Wahtever you want to call it stuff, beyond the big New Wave bands that got mainstream US radio play, in Central Illinois (Blondie, The Cars, The Tubes, The Police, The Motels). I now they did Electric Barbarella; but, would have liked to have seen them do a cover of the Barbarella theme song, given the name (classic band line-up, of course).

I now they did Electric Barbarella; but, would have liked to have seen them do a cover of the Barbarella theme song, given the name (classic band line-up, of course). I never much cared for Duran Duran, except for the later stuff like Ordinary World. Was brought up on New Wave though, it's one of my favorite music genres, probably because it's so diverse I wasn't a fan of Duran Duran or any New Wave bands when I was growing up. My father, who was the popular music critic for our city's biggest newspaper for 17 years, was a classic rock fan (or just rock back then, as most of it hadn't become "classic" yet). He was derisive of most of the New Wave artists as being formulaic and uninspired, especially bands like Depeche Mode that relied heavily on electronics for their sound, although he did like The Cars. Because of that, I grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, The Who, etc., while my peers were diving into new music. I finally started listening to bands like The Smiths, The Cure, Echo & The Bunnymen, etc., when I went away to college and hung out with people (especially girls) who were big fans of that genre. My first college girlfriend introduced me to Oingo Boingo and Duran Duran, both of which rank among my faves to this day, and my main Pandora (yes, I still use that instead of Spotify) playlist is packed with the bands I mentioned above plus a whole lot more. Back on topic, every site has churn; it's just the nature of the beast. Unfortunately, we've lost some strong members in the past year, real pillars of the community around here, and it sucks, but we've had other "pillars" like Ish and Dan leave and while we diminished because of their departures, we are still a strong community as a whole and we need to focus on that and be grateful for it. The nice thing is that the door is always open for any of these folks to return, but the CCF will continue to exist whether they come back or don't.

I love Duran Duran but their output has varied wildly...I guess that can be expected for a group that's been around for so long. I think their first three albums are best, and the second self-titled album (commonly known as "The Wedding Album" because of the cover art) is also really good.
They had a recent album that was a collaboration with "current" artists that I thought was unlistenable. Blondie did the same thing, with similar results.

Years ago I had a HS reunion and set the pictures that I took to Duran Duran's " I won't cry for yesterday " .

Was wondering where Warmonger went off to.

I stand corrected. Warmonger was frequently attacked in the Political thread from what I remember.

but then again, I had/have him blocked, so didn't notice he's gone.

Yeah, well I never liked having a political thread. It did more harm than good. It never ended up changing anyones mind but you pissed members off and they left. I come to the CCF to discuss comics.

Yeah, political threads, especially in an election year, can get highly charged, very quickly. I vented there, from time to time, but didn't hit it too often. I posted at Wrestling Classics, which has a political thread, but, there is no debate; just shouting. I suppose it's to be expected, since it's wrestling fans and they are used to promos being shouted. Sadly, American politics isn't much different from pro wrestling: a bunch of carnies cutting promos to pull in the marks and none of it affects the outcome.
When I worked for Barnes & Noble, we used to dread election years. Political books are written to preach to the faithful, not sway opinion. Every election, we'd get a bunch of political books, in two waves: early on in the election and in the couple of months before the actual voting. Invariably, we'd have an endcap or table display of political books. We literally counted the books on each side of the spectrum to make sure they were completely even. It didn't matter. Someone would see a particular book, become offended and accuse us of bias and vow to never shop there again, while we ticked off all of the books on that display that supported their POV. We got it from both sides. If we didn't have Rush Limbaugh's book we were part of the liberal media trying to silence him. If we didn't have Michael Moore's book we were the corporate giant out to silence the voice of the working man. People would try to cover up books from Hilary Clinton or Jane Fonda, while someone else, in ballpoint pen, wrote "Liar" on a biography of Ronald Reagan or stuck the Neo-Cons Contract with America book in the Gay & Lesbian section, as a joke.

Well, I think Thor is stronger than the Hulk. See what I did there ... My thoughts on Hulk vs Thor is the same as Superman vs Flash. Hulk should be stronger than Thor since Thor has other powers in his skill set. Same with Flash... he should be faster than Superman since Superman has other powers.
I now return you to your regular thread discussion...

Well, I think Thor is stronger than the Hulk. See what I did there ... Hulk smash puny girlie-man with wing hat! Hulk think Laurence Olivier better at Shakespearean dialogue than Asgardians! "To be or not to be; that not question! Question is why puny humans not leave Hulk alone?" "Hulk smash Claudius!" "Alas poor Yorick; Hulk knew him Horatio! Him fellow of infinite funny talk, of most excellent fancy. He hath borne Hulk on his back a thousand times, but Hulk too heavy!"

Well, I think Thor is stronger than the Hulk. See what I did there ... But is Hulk at the same strength level or greater than Juggernaut?
