I know a few weeks or so back the topic of TikTok came up. I've had an account for a while, but I almost never use it. My wife occasionally sends me some short form content, and once in a blue moon I will scroll clips at night to see what I see. I do not post anything myself. The cultural merits debate aside, oh man, there is some hilarious stuff on there. My face muscles are still tired from laughing so much and so hard. It's like an on-demand America's Funniest Home Videos without the awkwardness. I wouldn't call most of what's on there anything approaching art, but if you like laughing at funny animals, there are worse ways to spend an hour once in a while. There's no shortage of women with humongous boobs too. hey . . don't be sexist. . no shortage of men with mOObs either

Sorry to hear about your father, Bert. I hope you can enjoy the theme park stuff! Sounds cool. thanks. We're not close (at all), and honestly, the only "feelings" I truly have about it (if I'm being 100% honest) is anger. I'm angry that he spent 4 years refusing to do anything about the grief he felt from Mom's death (5 years ago), when he was still pretty cognizant. He wasted 4 years when he COULD have been trying to finally establish a relationship with myself and my Brother - who is a saint by the way. . my Brother is the one dealing with the day to day mess that my Father has become over the past 5 years, since he's there in Houston near him. we both promised Mom (literally on her deathbed) that we would not abandon him - because she knew how he is/was, and was afraid with her gone we'd wash our hands of him. I've tried to stay in contact, continuing the weekly calls (up until a few weeks ago when he went into hospital), even tho it became more and more of a struggle as he couldn't remember things. But now my Brother (and Sister in Law) are doing what needs to be done every day, and I respect the hell out of them for that. he won't even remember me or know that I've come - it will be "gone" the moment we leave - but my Brother told me I need to come, so we're making the trip next weekend. but thank you for your kind words.

Sorry for you, too, @bert. Despite all of what you posted, it still won't be easy for you. You're too good a person. Good luck with what will be a painful time. If anyhting, you'll be a help and comfort for your brother, I'm sure.

Dealing with an aging parent under any circumstance is tough, but when dementia is involved, it is even tougher, and when things were strained to begin with, it can be trying in the extreme, so thoughts are with you @bert
Stay strong, my friend, and don't be afraid to lean on your own support network as needed.

With all you deal with emotionally in your life @bert , enjoying some fun is the Lord's way of letting you know that you are being rewarded for handling the rough stuff. Being too old is part of the process, so just take it slow, watch the body breakdown and ride those park rides while you can and appreciate the happier moments.

Took a big chunk of my royalties from my book today and bought a new computer system, the first time I haven't had to rely on hand-me-downs (for which I'm grateful, don't get me wrong) in ages. My tech-savvy nephew walked me through it. I got the CPU, monitor, speakers, webcam, wireless printer/scanner, wireless keyboard and mouse, a 4 terabyte external hard drive to hold my comic book library, and a 3-year warranty on the whole kit 'n' kaboodle for a hair under $2K including tax, a full thou under what I'd budgeted. Win!
Cei-U! I summon the upgrade!

Welp the old man here is looking forward to the extra hour of sleep I'll get with the clock change tonight. Same, been getting tired around 8 o clock lately for some reason. Haven't been able to shut my brain down enough for a nap for a long time either, but still, rolling around and relaxing in bed is nice
