Ok, so next to the DC Showcase shelf is my Mego cabinet... Atop the Mego cabinet is my Micronauts collection and on the wall some Micronauts art... this is a large poster print of Stuart Sayger's variant cover to IDW's Micronauts #1 featuring Karza... plus a handful of the "action figure" variants for various issues of that run... my actual Micronauts stuff... the Biotron sketch cover is by Dave Aikens, commissioned at Champion City a couple years back the 3 Micronauts in the replica Astro Station is from the SDCC Exclusive set form a few years back the Acroyear sketch cover is from Jay Fife (also form Champion City) and the Karza sketch card is form Adam Fields. I don't have an actual Karza figure, but it's at the top of my hunt list for toy shows. As for Megos themselves, most are form Megos return in 2018-present, but a few are vintage (Tarzan and Zharkov). The Jane figure is FTC, and the (hard to see) Dr. Who carded Sutekh figure is from Biff Bang Pow... upper left... lower left... upper right... lower right... -M

Next to the Mego case is their fellow Japanese emigre, a Shogun Warrior... you can also see the signed (and sketched) Donatello issue by Kevin Eastman when he was the guest of honor at Gem City and a Krampus print by former studio mate and rpg artist Kevin Adkins. Next to that is the media shelves I built filled with books and such... you can see the one G.I. Joe Adventure team piece I have (an Intruder) and my vintage Viewmaster and a few reels on top Cthulhu slumbers above the Lovecraft section here... and turning the corner... you can see my replica Templar sword and dagger here... these were a gift from my thesis adviser upon completing my thesis on the Templars and banking and my wife's longsword and dagger form her Ren Faire days Above the books I have more of the Frazetta and Arzarch plates... the last 2 before the corner are tow more Jeff Austin pieces, a Jungle Queen and a Alien princess and over the small shelf on the corner is a pair of Sam Glanzman Attu pieces, and a pair od Sandman pieces, an original watercolr by an unknown artist I got in a Lonestar auction and a Matthe "Pogues" Metzger sketch card... Next to that wall is the window and the window bench I constructed. you can see my meager vinyl collection in the crate. When I replace my turntable and CD player, they will go on the bench. The short box is a Darwyn Cooke New Frontier art box and holds all my Hawkman comics. Moving on to the next post... -M

On the other side of the window, you can see my small collection of percussion (mostly djembes) and some more art... it's a Mike Wieringo Tellos pin up print and a pir of sketch covers commissioned from Justin Wasson at the Ohio Toy and Comic show a few years back-Space Ghost and Ming. above that is the limited lithograph of Doctor Strange and Clea by Kevin Nowlan. I also have the original poster release of that form the 80s signed by Nowlan when I met him at Gem City a few years back, but it's not on display as it is pretty beat up a I have had it since high school. In the corner next to that is another corner rack, and Doc rules the top shelf.. Usagi Yojimbo holds court on the second shelf... and on the bottom is the Captain Action/Dr.Evil Ming the Merciless figure from the early 2000s The Doc Strange theme extends on the wall around the next corner too... with a Michael Cho promo poster for Doctor Strange, a pair of Kevin Nowlan prints from when I met him at Gem City, a Ren McKenzie Doc print, the Iron Fist and Misty Knight are another Arvell Jones print, slightly cut off is a Doctor Strange sketch cover by AdamFields and the other sketch cover is Sabrina the Teen Age Witch as the Scarlet Witch commissioned form Dan Parent at Gem City in 2014. I'll continue in the next post. -M

First let's take a seat, it's been a tiring exercise. Here's my big comfy chair in the middle of all this where I can soak in the sensory overload or just relax and read comics or books (or watch movies, listen to music or play video games soon). Alright, so back to it, under those Dr. Strange prints and such is a pair of bookcases I upscaled and repainted... they hold mostly indy trades, small sized comic related paperbacks and DC prose novels. Atop the right case... some Battlestar stuff, a Shadow thermos, a Shadow sketch cover by my former studio-mate Kevin Adkins, and a Terry and the Pirates glass I found at a thrift store. and atop the left is what I call my animated heroes shelf... I found those Loony Tunes figures at an estate sale and didn't know much about them. I believe they are late 60s vintage (possibly early 70s). Above them are a few sketch cards... Ookla the Mok is by Adam Fields, Schoolhouse Rock, Count Chocula and he Phantom Cruiser are by Craig Boldman. The DC prose novels have some DC Lego minifigs guarding them... and Snoopy continues the animated heroes theme along with the comic paperbacks and handful of digest sized manga I have (and DC Digests) there's some BC, Peanuts and Flash Gordon, plus a Goofy Big Little Book on the shelf. -M

Ok, moving on, next to the Doc prints on that slanted wall are a pair of Star Wars posters... and then a Panther promo poster by Brian Stelfreeze and a post of Esac Ribid's cover art for the relaunch of Conan at Marvel... under them along that wall is another bench I built (this one will serve as an entertainment center... taking us to that movie media shelf I built. A very large Vader action figure guards the TV... this is the older Tv that will have my Atari 5200 hooked up to it as soon as I dig it and the games out of storage. A more modern (smart) TV and a DVD player will be fillingout the shelf as soon as we upgrade the TV downstairs and I take our current smart TV (and Firestick) upstairs. Above the TV zone is the rest of the plates of the Michael Golden Doc Strange portfolio I mentioned in the first post... The Universal monster prints are again done by former studio mate Kevin Adkins. You've seen the last bit of wall with the media shelves around the corner, but here's a close up of the Mego and Mego-like stuff on display there... The Superman themed 14 inch 2018 Mego releases... the remaining 14 inch DC Leaguers... (there's an Aquaman out there I haven't gotten yet, and a BlackManta that seems to be hard to find, plus the new52 versions of Bats, Supes and WW, but I haven't gotten around to getting those and I'm not sure I will). a little New Gods action with a Mattel Retro Mego-like Darkseid and a DC Direct Orion 6 inch action figure... and finally, The Three heroes of REH from FTC... The Conan is a replica of the original Mego Conan, Solomon Kane and Kull are new. And that wraps up our tour. I hope you enjoyed it. I realize there's a bit of sensory overload involved, and there is a crap ton of stuff up there, but hey I enjoy it. If/when I get the game room back in order and the rest of the stuff there organized and displayed, I'll do a tour of that area as well. For now though, I am going to take a few days and enjoy my space before the chaos of returning to work takes over things. -M

If I was at mrp's house, I'd go straight for the Blackstar figures.

I had a Biotron, he 'kind of' walked, powered by big old D batteries. I recognize that blue and white thing with a propeller as being from a bubble-helicopter-submarine that held a figure in a blue chair with a weight on the bottom to keep it upright while the bubble moved. Nice to see Biotron again, and the magnetic Arcturus (I had the black Karza one).

The propeller was used on all the water based Micronaut toys as a propulsion system. The yellow sled in the pic was a water toy as well, and the prop slides into the bottom of it. I had a Karza as a kid too, and it is the top of my want list for vintage toys, but until I feel comfortable going to toy shows I doubt I will find one. -M

The other Micronauts toys I/we had was a white panel observatory with elevator for the little clear plastic guys with silver heads, and the three wheeled thing with the spring-loaded cannons on top that shot orange rubber tipped projectiles. I think there was also a little race car thing with a wind-up mechanism for the back wheels too. It all got mixed in with bits of other things G.I.Joe (large), Barbie, Planet Of The Apes, china animals from the tea, Lego, Hot Wheels tracks, a bendable Bullwinkle, and later the Star Wars stuff, and even Muffit from Battlestar Galactica and Twiki from Buck Rogers (bee-dee-bee-dee-bee-dee-bee-dee).

So I added another little display space to the house today. The wall above my computer desk in the living room has been blank forever, so I installed two pieces of v-channel to the wall to create a display space for some comics. Two rows gave me space to display twelve books. I chose to do a row of (mostly) Wanda books and a row of Devil with a red dress on covers, and it looks like this with the books displayed... Let's take a closer look at the books themselves... top shelf (Wanda) features the Black Widow and Scarlet Witch timeless variants by Alex Ross, issues 1, 3, and 5 of the Scarlet Witch solo series with David Aja covers, and the X-Men #4 Facsimile Edition. bottom shelf (red dress) features Half Past Danger #1 2nd print variant, Archie #159, the Classics Illustrated adaptation of Lorna Doone with art and cover by Matt Baker, Son of Sinbad #1 by Joe Kubert, Kitchen Sink's Spirt #1 (1st series) and Harvey's Spirit #2. a better look at the books on the left... and on the right... now I have some viewing pleasure while I am on the computer, and some viewing inspiration when I am working on the Wanda annotation thread... and the bonus is that it is very easy to switch out books, so I can change things up if I choose to. -M

I've enjoyed collecting a lot of action figures and statues over the years, and thought I'd post some highlights here. I don't have everything all in one room but more scattered throughout the house or in storage...maybe someday I'll get it all organized! Being a huge Legion of Super-Heroes fan, I wanted to share this figure set: What I like about it: Wildfire and Matter-Eater Lad alone made it a must have purchase. Wildfire was such a big part of the 70's Legion I grew up on and one my all-time favorites, and Matter-Eater Lad is one of those figures you never thought in a million years they'd make. Give me a classic style Bouncing Boy, and dare I dream a classic style Legion of Substitute-Heroes set, and I'm in offbeat heaven! I also like that Colossal Boy is scaled larger, and Proty and a very nice Flight Ring were great touches! What I don't like about it: The blank Invisible Kid spot. I know it's supposed to be clever, but give me a see-through Jacques figure if you want to go that route. This felt like a cheap move to me! What I'm so-so on: There were Silver Age Legion figures prior to this. While I appreciate that this is a Bronze Age set, Brainiac 5 and Ultra Boy have the same costumes and were previously released and these aren't that different. And while Superboy is obviously central to the Legion, he has figures elsewhere and feels like a missed opportunity for another first-time Legion figure. Which brings me to the lack of ladies in this set...Saturn Girl is it, and it's the boring costume. 70's Saturn Girl would have been so much better for a proper Bronze Age set. What about Projectra, Shadow Lass, Dawnstar, Phantom Girl? Or a small scale Violet up there with Proty and the ring? The timeframe in the comics for these characters' looks is approximately '82-84. Timber Wolf regained his non-feral features in '82 and this figure still has the old look, Cham got the purple suit in '83, and Karate Kid died in '84, so basically Levitz/Giffen era. Nitpicking aside, it's a pretty awesome set I enjoy quite a bit!

Continuing with the Legion theme, one of my favorite pieces. Alex Ross Legion of Super-Heroes signed Artist Proof giclee: I really need to get this framed. This was the Legion of my early childhood and still my favorite era...and Alex just knocked it out of the park with this homage in my opinion. Gotta love those 70's Dave Cockrum character designs! Hey, wait a minute! How did Night Girl get in there, she's with the Subs? Guess Cosmic Boy snuck her in (that was sneaky Alex, and a cool little touch at that!)

I also think perhaps I'm not getting the "chez" part of this right...I feel like posting pictures from around the house fits the spirit better. I kind of have stuff everywhere, so I'll just take one room at this point, a shelf I have in one of the bedroom closets:

By the way, @mrp , I love all the pictures you shared above. Not only is it an amazing amount of cool stuff, it's given me some great ideas of how to get better organized with storing/displaying stuff at my house!
