I've been there less than a half dozen times since they killed the Classic Comics board, except to read one of Greg's columns. I did buzz in to see the new frontpage and Holy Moly it looks generic. Like every cheap website optimized to show a couple dozen lisicle "articles" on mobile devices.

I went looking for the comments and discovered you needed Facebook to post them. I wouldn't be able to comment even if I wanted to do so. I guess they won't be needing forums any more. Why pay money for feedback from dinosaurs and trolls? so I guess the forums are going away then? haven't posted over there in a long while. .I gave up when I got reprimanded for calling out that moron who only posts Celine Dion threads, and haven't looked back since. oh well, the forums had a good long run. . . too bad Chat never came back tho. glad to see folks I enjoyed over there, here, so that's a nice part of being here  |

Especially when you have a poster making Poe's Law level accusation that most of CBR's posters are racists because they didn't like the new Ghostbusters. I didn't just get reprimanded, I got a temp ban. 1st one EVER, and that was the last straw for me. . left and haven't logged back in since. so I missed the Ghostbusters stuff. . . .but seemed that the new "nice" CBR after the 2nd wipe, some of the Mods went way overboard in terms of keeping the site "polite". . so ignored the trolls who came out in full force, but were allowed to prosper and take over the entire boards in some cases, because they were "nice" trolls. (would have never even gone back to CBR, if Bendis hadn't shut down his site, and took Gail's board with it) whatever tho, like it just fine here anyways, even if I don't post all that much |

Bert that's a perfect term "nice trolls". And they aren't reigned in well. But glad you are too my friend.
Edit: Especially when they go unscathed and you get temporary bans and pip gets banned. You two being very reasonable posters.

The poster in question has opinions that line up with Jonah's and the mod/admins' opinions 90-100% of the time, so he's protected even though he is a vicious troll. There is no such thing as a "nice" troll. Just a "troll that agrees with me so I let him run amok". |

I didn't even know Jonah had sold the site. I went to the site yesterday and was confused about the change to the main page. Now it makes more sense. A lot of people are frustrated on the forums regarding the design change, and I can see why. The entire thing reeks of corporate takeover catering to a different audience. Apparently the forums aren't going anywhere, but I get the feeling that won't last. I wasn't on CBR for long, and even when I was I was as involved there as I am here, which still isn't that much. I do remember a couple of years back when the entire boards were reset and I think I got an invitation to come here and join the community. I don't know Jonah at all, but I do remember when that entire thing happened with the resetting of the boards he and his staff seemed a little drunk with power "silencing" anyone that so much as shared their opinion regarding the change if they didn't like tone of the response/criticism. Didn't think much of Jonah after that. Hopefully that never happens here. But whatever, we don't pay for any of this anyways.

I don't care for ANY of the Comic Book Internet Sites including this one and I prefer the mouths of my friends here and at the Comic Book Stores that I go to. I used to bookmark this site and not anymore.

CBR is currently still available via its RSS feed, so you don't have to visit the main site. But opening one of the feed stories opens the site and it's just a dreadful mess. Leaving aside the general godawful look of the site, it's really beyond me how anyone could think it was that it was a good idea to have headlines in a supergiant font that results in about 60% of the headlines being truncated to ellipses, generally at points that render the headline unintelligible.
I don't know what it is about Comic Book sites, but the big 3 (to my mind) - Newsarama, CBR and Bleeding Cool - have all had disastrous redesigns and none of them have really recovered from them.
