Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Now that you mention it I wouldn't mind seeing Lucy Lawless play Hippolyta. She was good as Wonder Woman in the New Frontier adaptation. It's not necessarily a bad thing if all you want to convey is warrior woman. If you want to convey all the other things at the heart of the Wonder Woman character, it misses the mark badly, but that's my big issue with DC's cinematic visions, they are reductionist and focus on on aspect of the character to the detriment of all other character traits, reducing the character to a fraction of what they are and what has made them endure for decades. -M Which I wouldn't mind so much if the DC movies didn't suck quite so much.
And I wouldn't mind the general suckitude nearly as much if the Nolan Cult wasn't quite so vocal in acting like The Dark Knight Rises was some kind of classic film when, in fact, it fails as a Batman film and as a superhero film ... and as a film in general.
And even that wouldn't be such an issue if The Dark Knight Rises wasn't so boring. Man of Steel, despite being dumber than hell and achingly contrived, was never boring.

I agree about Warner's treatment of the characters. I just meant from a visual standpoint. It could have been much worse.

Nah, the Morrison fanboys and the Nolan fanboys are too involved in a religious struggle over who the supreme comic book visionary god is to deal with other heretics at the moment....if we're lucky they'll wipe each other out and save the rest of us from the grief.... -M

All very sad, of course, but consider this:
There are people who buy Mark Millar comics.
New.

Love the look for the new movie so much. This news made my day and I can't wait for the film now. Seems like they did a fantastic job of trying to appeal to a wide array of audiences while keeping the visual spirit of the character intact. She doesn't have underwear and doesn't look like a cock tease. But it also doesn't look like they were worried so much about people that would think they would go for something too sexy. Instead she is beautiful, but it's not a defining characteristic that is brought to the forefront. When I see this, I think badass. Can't wait for her to scrape some goons. The costume reminds me a lot of the Play Arts Kai figure that was released not too long ago:

New.*raises hand* His current book (Starlight) is actually quite good.. it's kinda 'What if Luke Skywalker retired to Earth, but then the rebellion needed him again 30 years later?' Mostly, he's terrible, I agree... though I like the beginning of his Ultimate X-Men run as well. Also, I like the Nolan movies .

The Gal Galdot pic isn't that bad. I'm sure the color scheme in the pic is muted quite a bit, but it might be colorful...who knows? I do like the bracelets and the eagle breastplate, mixed with the original dress look Moulton created. The headpiece looks alright, I guess. It's not too tiara-ish; a bit more like a headband. Still...not bad at all.

I like the original Wonder Woman costume but since it isn't the middle of World War II anymore, it doesn't make a lot of sense for WW to be draped in the American flag. I'll happily forgo the red-white-and-blue color scheme for something that actually says "immortal Amazon princess."
Cei-U! Not that I'll be bothering to see the movie, mind you, but, hey, at least Diana looks good!

She looks beautiful but once she breaks both ankles she will have a hard time kicking ass. Or anything else for that matter.

Mostly, he's terrible, I agree... though I like the beginning of his Ultimate X-Men run as well. Also, I like the Nolan movies . Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are both acceptable superhero entertainment, The Dark Knight might even be a little above average. But the Nolan Cult persists in acting like Nolan is Orson Welles for superheroes.
And The Dark Knight Rises is a fine movie when Anne Hathaway is onscreen. But the focus moves to Bane, and five or six hours of that is too much. I don't mind at all that a lot of is stupid. It's the tedious parts that I don't like.
Liking Nolan is not the issue. Deifying him is.
