I probably had one of my very worst years ever, yet, I probably hold the fort good enough since amongst the few things I got was one of my very few ultimate wants from my record wantlist : Lena Platonos's first solo LP, a greek singer/pianist. She had an amazing voice, joyfull but frail, wasn't afraid to contort it, had the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard (at least in pop music), quite melhancolic ones. But it always was real difficult to track down because of the alphabet, as there's only one greek pressing of it! If you like eerie and quircky pop, female singers, piano and unusual structures, do yourself a favor and check this out :  Got a few more good records, good wine, some dry sausages and a painting  |

First year ever that I received no comics AND no toys, but I got a lot of cool stuff all the same, especially a nice new set of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to read (I lost my copy of The Two Towers years ago), as well as a working piano necktie.

I did really well. . Work gave me a $50 giftcard for Speedway
My wife got me a bunch of sundries (new wallet, new winter gloves, underwear, etc.), some clothes including a very interesting dragonrider t-shirt, a new Star Wars reversible knit winter hat (Rebel light side or First Order Dark Side, baked me a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and a banana bread, and renewed my subs for Heavy Metal and Marvel Unlimited.

Wife got me a replica of the 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver, a coffee mug with a schematic of a Dalek on it, a Tardis tree ornament (sensing a theme, huh), a new gym bag, and a long-sleeve T-Shirt for my favorite Premier League football club.
My sister got me a cookbook from one of my favorite chefs. It's homestyle Mexican food, rustic and fresh things that normal Mexican cooks make rather than Tex-Mex stuff.
My parwnts gave me their usual check, which I will use to pick up some DVDs and a few comic books.
My brother-in-law, who had my name in our gift exchange (this is on my wife's side of the family) got me four Funko POP figures: Captain America, Hulk, Vision, and Beast.

I posted this in the purchase thread yesterday before this thread:  I forgot my Challengers of the Unknown Kirby omnibus. I also received new silverware, cash, a radio/tuner/speaker thing from my brother that I can plug my music player into and it'll play my music, instead of me battling with my transmitter daily to try to get it to connect with my speaker downstairs just so I can listen to music while I work. And an Amazon gift card. I think I was pretty good? |

One of my employees is a huge Premier League fan, and he suggested if I was going to get into it, I needed to pick a team to follow. Rather than pick a frontrunner, I chose the Swans. They're having a tough year, but I think they have enough talent to avoid relegation. |
