For those who did see the story Pharazonk linked in the Meanwhile thread, Bernie Wrightson has been hospitalized after suffering a series of small strokes. He seems to be alert and doing well according to his wife and Steve Niles, but they ask for everyone's well wishes, so I though we as the CCF community could send our wishes by sharing our favorite Wrightson images. There are lots of them out there so let's limit it to 3-5 images each so everyone has a chance to show off some of their favorites and we can all send our positive vibes out to Bernie and his kith and kin. Bernie at a 2006 con some of my favorites.... Bernie's designs for Ghost Rider for the first movie... A Wrightson Conan piece pre-Marvel comic... and in honor of what I am currently reading.... Wrightson's work on Frankenstein... Get well soon Bernie! -M

Thanks for sharing this. I hadn't heard. Best wishes to Mr. Wrightson. Here's an image of his that never fails to floor me (use the scroll bar at the bottom of this post)

I hope he comes through relatively ok. Wrightson's a monster of comics-making and by all accounts a good guy.

The detail in his Frankenstein Alive, Alive! artwork is mind-blowing. It's a shame there was such a huge gap in between the time issues #2 and #3 were published.

This one's just weird to me. I like it, but I like it mostly, maybe, because it's off-kilter: The detail in his Frankenstein Alive, Alive! artwork is mind-blowing. It's a shame there was such a huge gap in between the time issues #2 and #3 were published.</div> That's the beauty of living now, I think: You don't have to worry about delays on older stuff anymore. Once it's all done, you can sit and read the whole thing and it's all there.

Hope all is well for Mr Wrightson.
Travis, like that image. Not sure if I saw that particular one, but ever since reading Batman The Cult he's been one of my favorite artists for Batman. He captures the gothic and fearful nature of the costume and the persona that no one else really can.
The one image that comes to mind of one of my favorites as far as his macabre, is a House of Mystery issue, I think. It tells the story of a man that gorges himself on frog legs all the time. At the end of the story the frogs have their revenge and there's a panel of hundreds of frog with no legs and crutches swarming the man. Really creeped me out the first time I saw it.
