You keep using that title, "A New Hope;" I never saw a film titled "A New Hope," in 1977.

You keep using that title, "A New Hope;" I never saw a film titled "A New Hope," in 1977. Just like I never saw "Indiana Jones 4."

Nobody wants a Pip The Troll solo title. There. I said it.

Nobody wants a Pip The Troll solo title. There. I said it. I agree. Completely. But EVERYBODY wants a reboot/revival of the Defenders' "Elf With a Gun"... right? Sigh...just another pointless repeating mystery trope originated by Gerber... I suppose we'll never understand exactly why.Perhaps it was a tribute to all those AD&D players out there who insist on annoying Dungeon Masters by playing a character with a chaotic neutral alignment. (sorry about that-- I thought I had adequately suppressed my RPG nerdiness from my college days)

Nobody wants a Pip The Troll solo title. There. I said it. Not now, I don't - if you mean a new series from today's creators (including the Jim Starlin of today). But in the early to mid 70s I would have been on board with a Jim Starlin written and drawn Pip the Troll miniseries, no question. And I would still be board with it today - as long as it had been created by the Jim Starlin of the early to mid 70s.

Well, it's been "A New Hope" since 1981.

Well, it's been "A New Hope" since 1981. ..and that's early enough that referring to Star Wars as A New Hope is not a real issue. I saw the original when released in 1977, and re-releases, and to this day, I alternate between the two titles, not thinking one is "incorrect". No biggie.

I refer to it as "Star Wars" or "Star Wars '77" out of an especially strong contempt for Lucas' revisionist BS.

Well, it's been "A New Hope" since 1981. People say "irregardless," too; still doesn't make it a word. The movie was Star Wars, no episode number; Han shot first, Leia is the daughter of Bail Organa, Owen Lars is Luke's uncle, Luke's father was murdered by Darth Vader, who is Gov. Tarkin's henchman. Ben's clothing is standard Tatooine desert gear, not a Jedi robe........

Yeah, when I think of the first three films it's always as the titles under which they originally appeared - Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. If someone says Episode IV, or A New Hope or whatever, I have to think about what they mean and even then might not get it right. The later prequels and sequels are all a bit of a jumble in my mind, nothing really stuck - although I think the prequels done by Lucas had some great visual moments.

I sincerely can’t remember the names of the three newest movies. They made quite an impression. The last one I saw was Rogue One, which I mostly enjoyed - though I still had to look up that title to remind myself what it was. And The Mandalorian tv show was good as well. Neither are at anywhere near the level of the original movies, of course, but I have mostly positive feelings about them, in a modest way.
