One thing that really drives me nuts is the 80s and onward is the idea that being a ninja automatically gives you a win. Doesn't matter if you've been a wrestler, boxer or street fighter for 20 years and have tons of experience. One month of NINJA training somehow trumps that. I don't see the problem here. I mean, it would be one thing if people were saying this about pirates... but it's ninjas, man. NINJAS! I guess a Pirate/Ninja would be nigh unstoppable!

Why is that any time a psychic does a scan of the surface thoughts of a crowd in the Marvel Universe, a good half of the people are thinking about how much they hate mutants? Instead of say "That girl is really hot" or "Do I need to buy milk?" or "What was the name of that show about the two outlaws who would earn a pardon if they stayed out of trouble for a year?" or having the tune of 'Walk Like an Egyptian' stuck in their head? Is anti-mutant hysteria really at the forefront of the mind of most civilians in the MU? Alias Smith and Jones. I know you weren't really asking, but my OCD wouldn't let me leave that hanging.

Because thirty day deadlines. Same reason everything is skin tight, even combat boots. Combat boots so tight I can see every bone, muscle, and vein in your ankles. Not sure why a crew cut would take anymore time than a side parting. In fact, I'd have thought it was easier to draw. I'm sure any haircut would take as much time as the next, but when quickly cartooning it's easy to just have the one face, the one haircut, the one body type. You can blow through the pages quicker by illustrating that one thing you've perfected over and over again. Many, MANY monthly comic artists pretty much rely on the colorist making the characters distinguishable from one another.

I even remember scenes in various underwater Atlantis buildings that had stairs. Why in the world would people at the bottom of the ocean have stairs? They could just swim up or down to the next level. This is one area where the "denser muscle" thing would actually make sense. The OHOTMU used to say that a hero was stronger because their flesh was more dense. But that would just make them heavier. Which would be useful for an Atlantean, otherwise they'd just float to the surface. So I'm guessing that Atlanteans they have to walk for the same reason we do - being so heavy, it takes less energy than swimming/flying. I'm guessing that on the surface world the average Atlantean would leave craters in the sidewalk. Or... would suffer the same fate as Captain Omen's crew. (EDIT: I agree with the hulk fans who say the Omen story is a candidate for best Hulk story ever. I loved those Englehart/Trimpe Hulk stories. That one was republished in big hardcover British annual with thick paper... just superb.)

There was a great scene about that in Larry Hama's early GI Joe where Stormshadow (the ninja for those who never saw/read the series) is facing a couple of Joe's and beating them until Roadblock (6-7 ft., 250 lbs. Heavy weapons guy ) manages to get into grappling distance. At that point the fight was over for Storm Shadow.

It's not a big deal, but it always bothers me when fans say Bova raised the Maximoff twins. The closest she came to raising anyone was babysitting Spider-Woman in a hallucination.

Well, then, this may bother you, but it's not my fault : Everything I have ever read about the twins' childhood has stated they were raised by Bova. Including Quicksilver's solo. But I'm also not claiming to have read every single everything on any of the Maximoffs. And I also know that Marvel likes to screw their origins up in every way possible.

The only thing I've read about Bova was that she took care of them as infants for a short time for the High Evolutionary before he found Django Maximoff to give them to (Byrne-era Avengers). "Raised" would be Django. Or has that changed?

Is Bova that cow creature? My Avengers knowledge is pretty spotty. Yessir. Marvel has just changed Pietro and Wanda's origin again so they are no longer related to Magneto, so if you don't like some aspect of their history, don't worry - it probably didn't happen anyway.

Is Bova that cow creature? My Avengers knowledge is pretty spotty. She is indeed, although with the way retcons go nowadays she might have been a Skrull disguised as Nick Fury posing as a cow.

And this was the FINAL nail in the coffin of my purchasing of current Marvel books. No more. I am done. I had pretty much made up my mind when they cancelled All New X-Factor and then All New Invaders, but this just totally seals the deal for me. Bastids.

But now that Pietro is an inhuman and not a mutant, he's going to FINALLY get decent character development AND be a good guy. Freaking awesome. *sigh*

I don't have a lot of faith in Marvel to tell a good story about that. Being mutants is as important for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, as it is for the X-Men. Quicksilver always talked up mutantkind and Scarlet Witch always wondered about her place as a mutant in homo sapiens' world. But I'm sure it'll fine. The only thing I've read about Bova was that she took care of them as infants for a short time for the High Evolutionary before he found Django Maximoff to give them to (Byrne-era Avengers). Why would anyone think that? Why?
