Sitting in a movie theater with my two daughters as they wait to see their first Star Wars movie. Wait, what? Is it morning where you are? Because it's just barely 9 am here. Oooh, that's too early to be around people in a theater. From my POV, you posted thatt comment at 3.04 PM. For the record, it's now 7.00 PM. And my status is sitting here in my office wondering why I'm updating my status when I could be downstairs having a beer and watching Doctor Who.

There's never a good time to be around people in a movie theater. Signed Crotchety old Curmudgeon I must admit, the opening night (Thu 7:30pm) showing I went to was remarkably well behaved. No talking, not one peep from a cell phone, barely any noise at all from children. It was so pleasant I'm not upset I paid full price. That will be the winner of my 2015 Shocker of the Year Award. current watching Illinois/ Michigan basketball game...

They said they did, one more effusively than the other. My older daughter is my "nerdy" girl (she read the entire Chronicles of Narnia by the end of first grade and the entire Harry Potter series multiple times through by the end of second grade, she's a Whovian, and she loves comic books, especially the old Marvel Team-Up series), so she was really into it, but it was a little much for my younger daughter to process. It was a little longer than most of the movies she typically watches (she's still a big Disney fan, so most of her movies are 90 minutes or less), so by the last half-hour, she was fidgeting and asking if it was almost over.

Because I haven't let Cronemberg *uck with my head enough after Dead Ringers, I am now watching the NC-17 Crash.

All caught up on the many treads that I like and read so many pages and I just dread the day if I took a week or two off from this place!

Watching "Eegah!" on MST3K and wondering which ancient God I torqued off to spend all day feeling like I have a knife in my gut.

Because I haven't let Cronemberg *uck with my head enough after Dead Ringers, I am now watching the NC-17 Crash. Crash is such an odd and unique movie! Very much of its time though, a bit like Exotica. How has it aged? To be honest I haven't finished it. Not sure if I can. I got about 30 minutes into it ... and well, my wife had seen it when it came out back on cable, and she asked me why I hadn't finished it and my response .... it's like a pretentious porno but not even the *ucking is good. So I guess that might explain what I thought about it. And Exotica, is great as gratuitous sexuality and nudity, is great as a thriller, and has a great soundtrack. It remains, along with The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover as one of the most "stuck with me" movies ever.

well, it's just a great movie I guess, Atom Egoyan was great from the start but hit his peak right after with The Great Hereafter. And he most indeed had great soundtracks, often involving Michael Books or Jon Hassell, ambient luminaries often associated with Brian Eno. I remember being quite annoyed by Crash at first, but as I saw it in the theatre, I had to stay and focus, and it really grew on me throughout the projection, to hte point that by its end I thought t was an important movie. But I'm really a sucker for Cronenberg (M Butterfly probably being my favorite of his, along with the usual suspects that Videodrome and The Brood are - Dead Ringer hasn't aged well IMHO).
