Brian Michael Bendis' FBI agent Harold Driver was all k8nds of cool; a soft-spoken but efficient dude who knew "stuff about stuff". I could easily have seen him become the equivalent of a John Constantine (during the Alan Moore years on Swamp Thing).
Because a writer is supposed to kill one's darlings, Driver was killed fairly early on. His partner, Angela del Toro, became the new White Tiger... and although a lot of attention had been paid to groom her for the role, I don't think a whole lot came out of it.
Those two definitely had potential, and neither waited for a shark to jump over before vanishing in comicdom history.

Not sure if already posted, but those 'Amalgam' characters from the 90s
Super-Soldier. An amalgamation of DC's Superman (Kal-El/Clark Kent) and Marvel's Captain America (Steve Rogers). The Dark Claw. An amalgamation of DC's Batman (Bruce Wayne) and Marvel's Wolverine (James "Logan" Howlett). Deadeye. An amalgamation of DC's Deadshot (Floyd Lawton) and Marvel's Bullseye. Doctor Doomsday. An amalgamation of DC's Doomsday and Marvel's Doctor Doom (Victor von Doom). Doctor Strangefate. An amalgamation of DC's Doctor Fate and Marvel's Doctor Strange and Professor X (Charles Xavier)
Yeah, big old yawn.....

I didn't much care for those but I remember being really bumbed that Spider-Boy wasn't going to be an ongoing: Yeah, with the thigh pouches it was a really 90's look but I loved the way they combined the Spider-Man logo with the Superman shield.

The big ones for me are The Scrier from Silver Surfer #134, and Stardust, the herald of Galactus. Although, I just checked on CMRO, and there are actually a few issues I haven't read yet, so they're moving way up my list.

Kate Beaton on The Enchantress: "When I was signing books in Frankfurt, someone asked me to draw The Enchantress, and I had never heard of her, so he produced a picture, and I asked questions about her while I drew. It turns out I think she is pretty great." No cartoon boobs here, but posting the image doesn't seem to work. Link: www.harkavagrant.com/nonsense/enchantresssm.pngSide note: Enchantress is all about Balder usually, right? He had a four issue miniseries that was really good, that featured her. She was also great in Secret Wars.

Cei-U! Which witch is which?

Lol I did not know that. Guess I need to go back and read it again haha. Is Karinilla a particularly frequent villain?

Bit of a necropost I know, but as I was doing a reread of some of Keith Giffen's I came across Crimson Fox: Looking back, it seemed like she was everywhere in the early 90's, appearing in the various Justice League books and all kinds of house ads for DC...but then she just vanished.(well, killed off, but still) Sure, her sort of over-sexed look and pheromone powers are kind of eye rolling today in retrospect but I really liked the concept of two people acting as one hero and feel like it could easily be reworked today.
