Small batch showed up today, excited to find another GA Mary Marvel comic!
As Simon and Kirby's Newsboy Legion might say in their best 1940's Brooklynese, " Say...Dat Mary Marvel... whatta dish!"

You’re just jealous that I have a full set of Glory comics. Only if there is some sort of another crisis or other that causes another toilet paper shortage... I mean dollar bin 90s Image books are cheaper than Tp these days. but good on you for getting comics you love. Don't ever change. -M

It's Gem City weekend. I am meeting one of my dealer friends tomorrow to pick up about a short box worth of books I have traded for from him over the last six months (and dropping off 2 long boxes of books I am trading to him for this batch and a previous long box worth I got from him a few months back via another con fiend of ours who lives here in Dayton but was at a show with my friend and acted as a "comic courier" for us). I hope to get pics up sometime early next week after I process it. I'm attending the con itself on Sunday, so I am sure I'll have more stuff to show from that.
Among what is in that short box is the Ghost Rider #90 I mentioned, a large batch of Bronze Age Flash and Metal Men issues and a whole lot more (the index card with my list of stuff from May and earlier got water damaged and I can't read it so I am not even sure what all I have coming at this point.

Or maybe this is something you would do in a crowdfunding venue.

Started sorting and processing the box. First step sort into piles... Then sort and catalog the piles. Three piles done, here's what is there so far... First pile was a pile of Bronze Age Flash, no individual shots here, but here's the spread.... Second pile as a a bunch of the '87 Flash series featuring Wally... and then a pile of indy stuff including... an issue of Nyoka the Jungle Girl... an issue of the 70s small press anthology Venture, this issue features a Neal Adams cover... an issue of Walt Disney Comics & Stories... a couple of Gemstone EC reprints... Some Archie stuff, many featuring red dress covers, including She's Josie #7 a late 60s issue of Monster Mania featuring a Frazetta cover... some Saturday morning fun... including the first issue of the Archie run of Scooby Doo... Rook #3 featuring Alex Toth art on the Torpedo back up Roy Rogers Western Classics from AC reprinting 50s era Roy Rogers, some of which featured pre-Marvel John Buscema on art... and last but not least, Tor 3-D #1 from Eclipse, complete with 3-D glasses featuring Joe Kubert's work... I've got 3 piles to go, a Bat-pile, a misc. DC pile, and a Marvel pile. Not sure if I will get pics of them tonight, we'll see. -M

Alrighty, Marvel pile processed and pics taken. To start with, that Ghost Rider #90 I've mentioned getting, this completes my run of the 90s Ghost Rider series featuring Danny Ketch. Sticking with the Marvel horror theme, both issues of the digest sized Haunt of Horror... and Beware #5, featuring a red dress cover (maybe, could be a red nightgown possibly, but it's close enough, and the old woman's robe could be a dress too) and Doc Strange Sorcerer Supreme #22-I thought I had a complete run of this series, but when I reorganized my book last year, I discovered I was missing this issue. Now I have a complete run of this series. The rest of these are comics I had as a kid and I got because I am trying to recreate that childhood collection. I believe Marvel Triple Action #23 was the first Avengers comic I ever got and read-I had a copy of #19 but I clearly remember getting that one out of a bin of remainders at the local Genovese Drug store well after it came out-they would have comics in there for 10 cents each and since I was a kid and they were cheaper that way, my mom and grandmother would sometimes let me pick pot 2-3 of those instead of getting 1 new comic off the spinner at the other drug store we went to. I know the first issue of Avengers proper I got was #144, and it came out nearly a year after Triple Action #23, but I may have had Triple Action 19 before Avengers #144 as well. None of these Spideys were my first, as I know ASM 46 was my first there. I had FF 163 as my first FF (hockey goalie cover for the win) but a lot of these were among the comics I got in the first year or two of choosing and buying my own comics with my allowance. The Empire issue of Star Wars was a few years later when I wasn't allowed to get comics by my folks, but they made an exception for Star Wars. Thor was another favorite as a kid, 240 was my earliest, so this was a bit later, and I don't think it was one I got myself, but one I inherited from my cousin when he had to give up his comic collection (got caught smoking pot with his friends and that was part of his punishment, which garnered me about 20-30 comics I had read at his house when we visited but that I didn't own, I think he had managed to hide the rest before my aunt and uncle confiscated them because he had a lot more than I got) The DC piles will follow at some point. -M

And the last batch of this haul, the misc. DC stuff. Mostly run filler I got on the cheap, a few interesting things along the way as well. Was always curious about this take on Shazam, and got complete 12 issue run for $8 so decided to give it a shot... most of the rest were $1-$3 books, with more being in the $1 range than not. and that wraps up that batch. We will see what I get at the show on Sunday. All of the books posted tonight came Hogan's Heroes Comics & Collectibles out of Illinois. The owner, Randy Hogan, is a con friend. He does a lot of claim sale posts and claim videos on the FB page for Hogan's Heroes Comics & Collectiblesif anyone is interested in checking it out. Randy is a good dude with fair pricing, but he does do a lot of consignments for other sellers so doesn't always have leeway to move on some of the prices if it is consignment stock. Fair warning, Randy is one of the 90s kids I talk about ho has a lot of nostalgia for 90s comics, especially 90s Marvel so there is a fair bit of that stuff in a lot of his offerings. He also does a lot with mini-figs from several fandoms (I got some great Disney Ducks and Looney Toons figs form him a while back plus a few DC). I can't say what his shipping rates are like though. We keep a running tab and a box of books for each other through the year and just exchange boxes and settle up when we see each other at shows once or twice a year, so I don't deal with shipping with him. -M

MRPs_Missives, fantastic haul! I've been trying to find a clean copy of that Venture anthology. And those Archie Scooby books were a ton of fun. Heck all Archie books are fun reads.
