I wish Marvel did a collection of Millie the Model, Chilli etc....and DC did Scooter, Debbi etc.
Seconded. I'd also like to see some Marvel western collections. Just 20 or so Kid Colt stories would do.

Nice to see the covers. What was DC thinking when they produced PLOP ? They weren't really known for their "Mad" type humor comics . It had cool Sergio Aragones bits but it wasn't really great. Ha... I was just going to post that DC needs to do a nice collection of PLOP!... I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree! It seemed with the loosened code, DC/Orlando were looking to... if not relaunch EC, recreate what they could in the new environment, e.g., the expanded mystery line. Also, these titles could bring in new readers who didn't care about superheroes.
PLOP! covers really stood out on the racks but could've provided a more solid read, especially considering that it was all story and no ads. That is, where it could've taken a lead from Kurtzman's MAD is to have all 4-8 page stories and not panel gag/one-page fillers.
Skeates was a good enough humor writer, but they relied too much on Aragones. They could've brought in or cultivated some more writing talent. Evanier maybe? Had Fred Hembeck started working at this point? Even Wood (or his studio).
That said, yeah, I'd like to see a collection.

I'm not usually big on Conan but this Treasury had a number of things going for it. 1. Lovely condition; 2. British 50p variant, these are difficult to come by; 3. The cover is aesthetically pleasing....maybe combination of artwork and colour but it's really nice to look at. This will be going in a Mylar Treasury bag so it lasts another 44 years...
If you like that cover you should enjoy the Buscema/Chan run on Conan the Barbarian from around #70 to #115, since the interior artwork is the exact same style.

Bought some comics online from a store in Montreal (Comic Hunter). They have a list somewhat up to date on the website (they couldn't find 4 or 5 comics I wanted), but no pictures. I ordered some to see if the prices/condition ratio were ok for me. Some were ok, but some of the cheap one I would have paid 1$ top for them. Overall still a good place to buy. I should also add that they offered to send pictures, but I didn't care enough to make them work. ]

I bought the Women of Marvel: Celebrating Seven Decades Omnibus. I went out on a limb with a book I wasn't sure about, because it's an interesting mix of comics it would take a lot of money and effort to assemble, it's out of print, and it's an interesting read. It's a mix of first appearances, solo series, key/early appearances, and graphic novels of a hodgepodge of femal characters including the Cat/Tigra, Night Nurse, Shanna the She-Devil, the Wasp, Millie the Model, She-Hulk, etc.

Stopped by the local Ollie's yesterday to see if they had some packaging material and found some interesting things among their bargain trades and in the book section... Volume 3 of Ostrander's Suicide Squad for $3... The Twelve HC for $6... an adaptation of Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu I hadn't seen before for $3. They had adaptations of Hound of the Baskervilles and one other classic I can't recall off hand from the same creator as part of the series, but I only got Cthulhu... and in the not a comic but comic adjacent territory, they had a couple of copies of Cursed, the YA novel version of Nimue's story from Arthurian legend done by Thomas Wheeler and Frank Miller with spot illos and cover by Miller. There was a Netflix series based on it, but I haven't seen it. It was $3 for a HC and I'm a sucker for Arthurian stuff, so I gave it a shot, we'll see how it is whenever I get around to it in my read pile. (I know this one isn't classic, but I am only posting once for the haul so I stuck it in here) -M

I just brought home yesterday the items in the picture below, but it was 15 months in the making! Near the office building where I work, there is a great little comic book shop that regularly buys old collections and I have regularly made lunch trips there over the years. Normally I would make a purchase at lunch, then store in my desk until time to come home. With the pandemic, I left the office last March and worked remote up until recently. Yesterday I went into the office and found these in my drawer still, I had completely forgotten they were still there! Evidently I purchased but in the haste to head home when they were closing things down, forgot to take these home. Some late 60's Adventure Comics towards the end of the Legion run, and I'm always a sucker for "giant size" reprint comics.

Those are some great Adventure books, and I love those giant size reprint comics, too. I was able to read plenty of 60's (and even Golden Age) stories thanks to those back in the day.

Like the Bravados cover....is the artwork the same inside? yes it's the same, but there's A LOT of text so all of the panel feel cramped (not sure it's the right word... too full???). There's also a dog that look nothing like a dog. But overall the art is good.

In the mail I just got:
Nexus (vol. 2) #1-3 Challengers of the Unknown #82 Marvel Comics Presents #52-53, 62-63 Rom #56-58 (early Alpha Flight appearance) Rom Annual #3 (New Mutants appearance) Captain America #267, 271, 285 Dazzler #28 (early Rogue appearance) Marvel Fanfare #50 Action Comics Weekly #606
A lot of those purchases are part of 2 major projects. First, I'm trying to pick up guest appearances by the X-Men/New Mutants/X-Factor from 1963 to 1991. Second, I've been putting together a big Captain America hybrid run of TPBs & individual comics (don't care which). So between various formats, I believe I now have the Cap stories from Tales of Suspense #59-99 and Captain America #100-350. Most are via Essentials or color TPBs. I may still be missing an annual or two.
And in an experiment that may be misguided, I bought New Guardians #1-12 off Ebay. I've only done one review thread (a Legion from the Beginning thread that died after 10 or 20 issues), because I find them hard to do. But I'm thinking this might be fun to do even if it's a trainwreck.
