Strongly disagree about Blueberry art, but maybe there's a bit of "emotional love" in my appreciation of it. Might be my favourite series ever. Emotional investment aside, do you think Giraud had beauty as a goal when drawing that series? I don't know if he had beauty as a goal, but he probably had details and realism. It is beautiful in my opinion

Bought on the 16th, received on the 21st via Royal Mail Standard + Correos. English eBay seller: This one finishes Byrne's run (108 is part of the Cockrum run, IMO).

Got these two in the mail today. The significance is that it completes my JL Detroit run.

Too bad there was never a Justice League Encino... They could have a new super-heroine-- "Valley Girl"-- with the heroic shopping power of daddy's American Express card.

When you mentioned the Valley girl hero, I thought of that girl that was in the Dan Jurgens Teen Titans run. Anyway, I had to complete the JL run that featured the breakdancing Puerto Rican.

Got these two in the mail today. The significance is that it completes my JL Detroit run. JL Detroit is kinda awesome and kinda awful. I love it. I should probably hate it ... I bought every issue as it came out up to about 250 and it was sporadic after that. I didn’t read the last four issues until many years later, about 2010. The Amazo three-part story is a highlight of the series. I think it was the first story I ever read with Amazo.

It was the DC attempt to copy the X-men formula of new heroes combining with classic heroes. It suffered from unspectacular artwork and lackluster stories. I hope to read it this time and see if it's better the second time around.

Now that I'm vaccinated, I've begun an exploration of all the comic book stores in my area. I'm documenting my hauls from these stores on my YouTube channel, but I didn't want to wait for the video to run to show this book - I got a massive pile of books at a store today and dropped a bunch of money, but this find basically paid for the whole trip:

These count as classic (the 'Perdition' book just barely, though): I'd read "Panther's Quest" before, but in a digital format ( ), and ever since then I've wanted a hard copy, but did not want to get all 25 (!) individual issues of Marvel Comics Presents in which it originally ran. I was really happy when it was collected a few years ago, and even happier to finally stumble onto a heavily discounted copy. So now I have complete set of McGregor's Black Panther material (i.e., the Marvel Masterworks volume and the Panther's Prey prestige books). The 'Perdition' book was purchased from the same vendor, also for only a few dollars. Again, this completes a set, as I already purchased the other Road to Perdition tpbs earlier. Now I just need to find the time to read them... Otherwise, this is the first time I've ordered anything from the US since last June. I'd stopped because of all of the problems/delays in the mail - one shipment got lost and I had to be refunded, and two others took 2 and half and over 3 months to arrive, respectively. This time around, I just couldn't resist and took the risk because a) the books were really cheap and b) I had a discount code, so even with postage the whole order only cost $20. And the package took just under a month to arrive, which at this point I consider express service.

That's a real gem. Hopefully it's well-loved but still complete.
