Grabbed all of the Avengers and Avengers West Coast Epic Collections. Having lots of fun. imgur.com/a/15xYPOgFor some reason, image upload isn't working on my end, so here's a link.
Here ya go--
Thanks for this! Yeah, I'm having a good time reading them. It all started with enjoying Bendis's run and wanting to see the history of the team... spiraled into half of one of my shelves, lol.

Today I went through the cattle call of Covid vaccine phase one... I celebrated by visiting a shop that I haven't been to in about 6 months-- not because of Covid, but because it's just a bit out of the way for me.
Came away with some offbeat oddballs-- no real keys here, just fun stuff filling holes and taking down my insurmountable want list by just a few more pegs. All in all, a good day.
Best find of the day was a Fine copy of Kirby's "Spirit World" magazine, complete with the un-attached poster inside! priced at $12, I had to look twice to make sure I was reading the tag correctly-- that's about 1/4 of the going price for a decent copy with the poster. Now to find its sister mag, "In the Days of the Mob"...
I've got a copy of that somewhere that I picked up stupidly cheap too - on Ebay. I suspect it was mislabled somehow and I chanced upon it. I remember I was the only bidder.
Like the Kamandi #40 I bought today which had been typo-ed so it was listed as: "Kamandi the Lady Boy on Earth". I was the only bidder on that too.

Two more comics from my own collection back from CGC in the name of self preservation. I'm happy with the 8.5 on the Conan. Not bad for a book I bought for 12 bucks in the 80s. Anything over a 7.0 for a lot of my comics in my collection I call a victory.

That's pretty humorous in itself as a typo.

and a passel of Batbooks... -M I love that story where Harvey Dent Two-Face meets Paul Sloane Two-Face. I read the first Paul Sloane story just a few days ago. I don’t understand Harvey’s vendetta. I don’t understand why he wouldn’t love the idea of two Two-Faces running around Gotham, wreaking havoc on bicycle manufacturers and double door installers and stealing antique dual-edged swords and whatnot.

Been a few weeks since I posted my wins in the FB group auctions. I wound up winning a handful of stuff this week, mostly $1 readers, but one other thing too, and had picked up a book or two each of the previous weeks. \ and finally, an issue with a lot of great talent contributing... -M I love the Katma Tui story by Moore. He gets to show us a bit of the diversity of the Green Lantern Corps.

So today turned out to be a massive haul of books. A Lonestar ordered arrived, and I went out cruising on such a gorgeous day because it was my day off and hit my lcs and two other comic/book/record stores and picked up stuff in each place. So 4 different hauls in one day. I'm going to break up the day's acquisitions by source. Let's start with the Lonestar order... Filled in some more holes in my Sgt. Rock run... and a few in my 'Nam run... I also picked up the facsimile edition to X-Men #4, the first appearance of the Brotherhood and Wanda/Pietro... and a red dress cover. Half Past Danger is probably one of my top 5 series to have come out in the last decade, and I have all the issue sin single issue format, but this was a variant for #1 and I wasn't collecting red dress covers at the time it was released so I got the regular cover with dinosaurs instead. The variant was only $2 so I grabbed it for my red dress collection.. Next up, a stop at my lcs... -M

So I raided the "new old back issues" boxes while at my lcs and poked around for some other books, and this is what I came up with... a trio of Atom issues, all under $5 after discounts (and the one with the cover rip in the logo was just a buck) a 5-pack of Phantom back issues... another red dress cover Archie book... a pair of facsimile editions... and a pair of modern back issues-I just read this series digitally over the past few nights and I really enjoyed it, and will revisit it again at some point in the future, so I decided I wanted to own it. Normally, I would get trades of stuff this recent for that, but I just love these gorgeous covers by David Aja, so I have decided to try to pick up the 15 issue series. These were the first two I got... next up, my favorite used bookstore in the same town... -M

Dark Star Books. Great little bookstore with an awesome comic section. They run monthly specials on comics, and March's special was 40% off all non-Marvel & DC books. I ended up picking up a pair of books I had ben eyeing there but were priced a little higher than I wanted, and one I never thought I would find at a decent price, but I did, plus an additional 40% off. The pair of books, were two Spirit issues, one the first Kitchen Sink issue, another an early Harvey issue, but also red dress covers. They were priced $15 each, but with discount were under $10 each... The book I never thought I would find an affordable copy of-Hell Rider #1. It was $12 before discount... I also picked up a pair of Zatanna back-up issues, not discounted, but at a the right price already... Then it was time to raid their dollar bins and quarter bins. First the quarter bin haul...mostly issues of Starman and Byrne/Triangle era Superman. I owned the entire Starman run at one point, sold it and started to replace it in trades, the trades went out of print and got pricey, started getting the omnibus editions, they went out of print and got very pricey, so now I am just filling in with single issues again, but only when I find them cheap. A quarter each qualifies as cheap... then the dollar bin stuff... a Corben cover on Twisted Tales, DC Silver War books, another issue towards my run of Vortex and a digest sized trade for Pinocchio Vampire Hunter! a quartet of Silver and Bronze Blackhawks-go go check era books for a buck, yes please. some Batbooks and the first appearance of the revamped Captain Atom, a very underrated series. I think I have another copy of the Steranko cover to Fly #1 and Destroyer Duck #1, but I couldn't resist these for a dollar. Plus a Truman issue of Amazing Heroes and another issue of Adventurers towards that run. and the last batch of dollar books... a Silver Age photo cover Dell Mission Impossible for a $1, ok, twist my arm. Hit Comics is an 80s indy GA collection/reprint. A Bond issue I didn't have, and another Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual. I had bid on this one along with #3 that I won on my FB group, but got outbid at the last minute while I was at work. Instead, I got a copy for a buck. The last thing I got there wasn't a purchase, but a freebie. They have boxes of books/magazines they leave out in front of the store that are free for people to take if they want them, inside this time was a batch of issues of the sci-fi pulp Astounding Science Fiction form '57 and '58. They are beat all to hell, but I love me some pulps and free pups is even better... one last stop before I got home... -M

Corey's Comics and Records is a little shop out in a deserted area of town in a mostly vacant shopping plaza down the street from our ghost-town mall. I know the owners from the con circuit, but I don't go there often (they tend to overgrade beat to hell books thus over-pricing them) but they do have dollar and fifty cent bins and you can sometimes find good stuff and good deals there. So I stopped in for the first time since last Mother's Day weekend just after stuff opened up to limited capacity after the stay at home order expired last year. This was one of those days where I found some good stuff and good deals there. I might have gotten more, but their network was down and they couldn't take cards, so I was limited to the cash I had in pocket, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I picked up 4 books prices at $2-$3 each, and a handful of dollar books. They had a friend of theirs covering the shop today while they were out trying to buy collections, and when I asked him about a book that wasn't priced, he said everything without a price was a dollar. I found some decent stuff without price stickers and most of it went home with me. Some of it wasn't quite in my normal wheelhouse, but I know people who collect those books so I can likely swing a trade for those couple issues. First the $2-$3 books... Mr. Miracle #10, lower grade but at a great price, same with the papoose issue of Lois Lane. A great Kubert cover on the Our Fighting Forces issue, and Bronze Supergirl Adventure (not a Zee back up issue though). The rest of the stuff was a buck each, including some Kubert Sgt. Rock... some Batbooks, mostly from the Animated series books... a Stan Sakai cover to MArvel's Strange Tales series with a samurai Hulk...how can I pass this one up, plus a 15 cent Disney Duck book and a pair of 70s Krofft books (those are the trade bait issues) The last dollar book was another red dress cover Archie book... and that was the day's haul, until I won a book in the Lonestar auction that ended tonight, but I'll save that one for when it arrives in house... -M

I have 12 books right now still at CGC; this time it's some undergrounds. Some Crumb, Corben, Holmes and a few others. Just because. My next batch will be some Silver Age DC in a few months give or take.
