Picked up a copy of Rube Goldberg's Inventions from Amazon Marketplace for a bit less than $5 shipped.

Thanks! Yeah, the 31 & 32 are very key. However I still love the 30 & 29. That said, I already have the 27 and the 28 is sooooooooo tough to find. After that, it's just the V3 #2 "punching heads cover" that I'll need. I'm closer to finishing this run than the Suspense Comics run that I started a year ago! However I never thought I'd come close to either so I've got that.

Amy's aunt ran an estate sale this weekend and there were a small number of war comics there. Low grade readers mostly. The bulk were Sgt. Fury and the Howling Commandos, so I picked up a handful for a buck each...including #17, 21, 26 and 32, plus some reprint issues from the late 70s. I love the cover for #17.... -M

Wow! Love those Catman books. The covers are gorgeous.
I have a birthday coming up and apparently I've been a good boy, so the wife said, "Pick out something you'd like." The "something" was Flash #110 in 6.0, OW pages. 1st appearance Kid Flash (Wally West) and the Weather Wizard. Attachment Deleted She was pleased, as she's been enjoying the Flash's new TV show.

Was out and about last Friday afternoon and stopped by this little shop I rarely get to. The owner gets some good quality Silver and early Bronze Age books on a pretty regular basis and then deep-discounts them, so it's always a treat to go through the boxes. I'd recently spent a ton of money at Pittsburgh Comicon, so I was trying to behave, but I did pick up the following which were too good to pass up:
Marvel Team-Up #65 (1st US appearance of Captain Britain) - Fine condition - $3.00 Incredible Hulk #185 - Fine + condition - $3.00 Conan the Barbarian Annual #3 (featuring Kull) - Very Fine condition - $4.00

Captain Britain?! You're kidding, right?
I would never properly warm up to CB, but I'll be forever grateful for Claremont/Byrne Team-Up.

Thanks Phil. That's one heck of a Flash book you snagged there!
I haven't caught the Flash tv show, but GOTHAM is cool and the 1st episode of Constantine wasn't bad either.

I got to go to a real comic shop for the first time in ages today and it was overwhelming. There were only two in-print things I looked for they didn't have (Trial of Yellow Jacket [which I knew they wouldn't have] and the first Thor Epic). But they also had lots of OOP stuff for cover.
I was kinda bummed they didn't have the Thor as I'm trying to get as close to a complete run of Thor as possible (and Avengers and maybe Captain America). What they did have was the first three Thor Materworks TPB (which go up to the second omnibus) so I got those and a Milk & Cheese HC. I may go back tomorrow and get either the Fraction Thors or the two Epics.
edit: No idea why I listed that Avengers TPB as in print.

Got my TFAW order form their progressive sale today, faster than expected. There was an issue with the Eisner companion they had in stock being damaged in unsellable condition, so they refunded me for that, but I got the rest...2 Masterworks-GA Subby Vol. 1 GA Cap Vol. 1, 1 DC Archive GA Hawkman Vol. 1; Lobster Johnson prose novel, Frazetta Art & Remembrances HC and Kaluta SKetchbook Vol. 1. Looking forward to reading some GA goodness in the coming weeks.

Ideally, this post would go in the "What Classic Comics Did You Not Purchase Lately?" thread, but since we don't have one of those...
The other day I saw the first 7 volumes of the Complete Peanuts strips in my local Oxfam charity shop. They looked unread and were priced at only £5 each, which is a bit of a steal compared to the £14 each that they normally retail for. So, why didn't I buy 'em? I mean, whatsamatter...don't I like Peanuts or something?!
Well, yes...of course I like Peanuts. Who doesn't? But I'm not sure I like Peanuts that much. Certainly not enough to start a collection of the complete series. I have a handful of mid-70s Peanuts paperback books and that's really all the Peanuts I need.

Went back to the same shop today and while searching for parking discovered another store (same owners) around the corner that has all their TPB/HC/omnis/toys are 50% off and all singles are a buck unless marked $5. I ended up getting Showcase Presents Superman 2, Showcase Presents Superman Family 4 and Cooke/Sale Superman: Kryptonite HC.
The coolest thing, though, (to me) were the packaged series. I'd seen this in other shops, but it was always just minis. They had some runs that were so long they were in boxes. The price seemed to be half of cover or there abouts. I got Ostrander's Martian Manhunter (0-36, DC One Million, and the annuals) for $60. I'm sure I could've gotten it cheaper (perhaps even from their dozens of $1 boxes), but whatever.
