Haven't bought much in the way of classic comics for a while, but the postman's just been and kindly delivered this little haul for me... Got some nice late Bronze Age Marvel Team-Up and Amazing Spider-Man here (plugging some holes in my wants list) and I also got Sensational Spider-Man #27 and #28, which feature parts 3 and 4 of the "Identity Crisis" storyline. I also picked up the Legend of Wonder Woman 4-parter by Kurt Busiek and Trina Robbins, as discussed last week in the recommendations thread.

I made a fair-to-middlin' haul at last Saturday's Jet City Con, courtesy of those sterling purveyors of Silver and Bronze Age bargains, Randy's Readers Comics. Paying mostly $1 apiece, I picked up: The Human Fly #1-8, 10-19 (a surprisingly solid series so far) Marvel Spotlight (1979 series) 1-5, 8-11 (he was, not surprisingly, out of the two issues featuring Star-Lord) Shogun Warriors #1-15 Thor Annual #6 (the only one I was missing) and, as an unexpected bonus, the extra copy of Fantasy Masterpieces #11 that Rob Allen bought by accident. The sad part is I could've completed the Fly and Shogun runs but decided I didn't want to spend the $3-4 Randy was asking for the other issues until after I'd visited all the other booths and then forgot to go back. (Sadder still was seeing Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch a.k.a. the original Starbuck and Apollo sitting alone at their tables because apparently nobody at the con remembered their version of Galactica.) Despite that glitch, a good time was had by all--or at least by Rob and I. Cei-U! On to Emerald City!

The Human Fly #1-8, 10-19 (a surprisingly solid series so far)! I didn't realize the series ran as long as that. I've had the first seven since they were current and enjoyed them. You're right that they hold up remarkably well. They played into the whole daredevil/Evel Knievel craze which was petering out at about that time. Typical of Marvel's MO in the 70s. Sure, but that Pat Broderick Captain Marvel is quite nice. And Ditko's Captain Universe! So awesome and unexpected. I remember it looking really out of place on the stands next to the Claremont/Byrne X-Men and Miller Daredevil, but I loved it and wanted more.

Dave Cockrum's Futurians GN from Marvel I'm totally going to buy this. Right soon. Unless anyone cares to try and talk me out of it. Or talk me into a making a wiser decision? Anyone?

There is also a few issue of Futurians floating around from various publishers. I have a #1 form a company called Lodestone I think, and there are a few more out there as well. They were all basically self publsihed by Cockrum with various partners so there was never more than 1 or 2 issues form a publisher, and I am not sure how many are out there or what the reading order for all of them should be. -M

Cockrum released a second TPB collecting them all (Lodestone #1-3 and Aardwolf #0), with the most important point being that it is the only thing in print that has Futurians #0 (1995 Aardwolf) in color.
