Feel like this thread has fizzle of late...people enjoying the summer and out and about more I suppose. Anyways, here are some pics from the last few months. Tec goodness from the 80's, some Cap issues and others. Mid high grade and all dirt cheap. Really enjoyed the Deadshot ish, hoping I can find the other issues. Personally, I haven't posted here because I haven't bought anything for a bit... my last e-bay auction was maybe 3 weeks ago, which I posted here. Mostly, I've been catching up on the 'to read' pile (which is quite large). There's also be quite a few good classic trade collections of late which I pick up with my monthly pull, but isn't really worth a post here.

Found the following pile of stuff at a thrift store today....mostly beat reading copies but all 25 cents each Charlton Classics 5, 7 (80s reprints of classic Sam Glanzman Hercules series) Secrets of Haunted House #39 Ghostly Tales #144 (Charlton) Thor #314 (Darx appearance) Hulk #271 (2nd rocket, beat all to hell (like Fr-Gd) but better than paying $75+ for it) Buck Rogers in the 25th Century #11 (Whitman-Eric Gray as Col. Wilma Deering cover) Space Adventures featuring U.F.O. #60 Sabrina, the Teen Age Witch #61, 66 (Archie) Josie and the Pussy Cats #105 (Archie) Dell's Flying Saucer Comics #3 grand total just about $6 after sales tax. The 80's stuff is likely VG-F range, the 60s stuff more like Fair-Good, but still solid readable copies. Most of this stuff was mixed in amongst a lot of 90's drek in long boxes, and I didn't have time to go through all of the boxes, so I may head back this weekend to see what else I can find of interest. -M

I received my first Ebay purchases and received Sgt. Fury 21, 50, 57 and 66. 50 and 66 were easy 9.2s and 21 and 57 were nice looking 8.0s. They all cost about $12 each including the postage.
The best part? All the issues are great fun!

The last few things I've picked up have been on credit rather than "purchased," but maybe I should try to list them anyway.
Palestine, 2001 TPB of comics journalist Joe Sacco's nine-issue 1993 series. Master of Kung-Fu #50 Greyshirt: Indigo Sunset #1 Marvel Spotlight Vol. 2 #6 Doctor Strange #54, 57 Weird Science-Fantasy Annual #2 Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge Adventures #5
... I think that's it.

Bought the entire run of American Flagg! On Comixology You may want your money back on some of those post-Chaykin issues. Good creators like Steven Grant and JM DeMatteis, but the book is nowhere near the same quality. DeMatteis, in particular, seemed to miss the whole point of the series.

Oh, I know there's definitely a drop later on, like most series. I've got all these issues buried away in paper and read them years ago, but, certain series, even the not-as-great issues, are still strangely compelling. Lord, I'd totally forgotten DeMatties had worked on the title.

Lord, I'd totally forgotten DeMatties had worked on the title. I probably crapped on the DeMatteis run more than I should have. It's... not terrible. It's just not very American Flagg!. DeMatteis gives us a very introspective road trip as is his wont. (I suspect this run may have been running concurrently with Moonshadow.) Any other title, great, but with Rueben Flagg, not so much. Mark Badger was the artist, and I've always liked his stuff.
I'm one of the few people who actually like Amerikan Flagg!. After Mindy Newell walked, there was a learning curve for JF Moore, but I thought he found his way within a few issues. Also, the best work of Mike Vosburg's career.

I agree Vosburg really took to it.
Mark Badger's style is different and I remember not especially liking it here.

I agree Vosburg really took to it. Mark Badger's style is different and I remember not especially liking it here. Badger's one of those guys whose work is always polarizing. He's constantly evolving his art, and it gets more and more angular over time. I think he found his sweet spot with AF!, but I can see why people wouldn't like it as well. After this period, I found I enjoyed his stuff less and less, especially as we were starting to see more stuff from guys like Kevin O'Neill and Mignola who were working similar styles, but at a higher level, in my opinion. (Even guys like Rich Case.)
