Hey there, CCF guys & gals! It's just a few minutes past the top of the hour here at WCCF Radio, and this is your friendly DJ Tartanphantom, here to spin all of your favorite classic tunes to keep you movin' through the day toward that ol' quitting time whistle!
Now before I start spinning the platters, let me clue you in to our latest WCCF Radio Contest!
I know, I know-- you're saying, "but I never win anything-- how can I possibly win a Radio Contest?"
Well, it's super easy! All you need to do is:
Post a classic comic cover featuring either a good old-fashioned vinyl record(s) OR a record player/phonograph/gramophone, or both!
That's it! For example, it can be a stack of 45's or even a single LP, or a bunch of swingin' teens grooving to the latest hip (or "hep", depending on the era) tunes!
BUT due to the recent payola scandal, any "Power Records" cover is considered grounds for disqualification-- so NO Power Record covers allowed. The management of the station realizes that this presents more of a challenge, but hey, were's the fun in half-hearted entries?
Remember, it can be either a record or records, or it can be a some form of record player, or it can be both.
Now I know that you out there in radio-land are rarin' to go searching for a real winner of a cover, so here are the rest of the standard ground rules:
- Post one, and only one, classic cover that fits the theme of the contest.
- Cover must be from a published comic book, comic-related magazine, or collected volume published before May 2012.
- Please include also the title of the comic and the issue number in case some posters cannot see your image.
- Covers must be posted before voting begins.
- Voting takes place on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, beginning at 12:01am PST and ending at 11:59 am PST.
- Vote by posting the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. Please put the name of your choice in bold.
- The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period ends.
- The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest.
- If you don't think the cover fits the theme, don't vote for it; please don't post disparaging remarks about it.
- If a cover is more recent than the classic time frame, kindly point it out to the poster, who may then choose an alternate before voting begins.

And now, the ol' Tartanphantom is gonna kick off the show with a classic monster hit from way back in October of 1968--
Little Dot #119 from Harvey Comics, featuring that super smash Jack-in-the-Box corner logo!
by the way, the artist chose to remain anonymous due to contractual obligations, I'm sure!
Anyway, be sure to keep it tuned to WCCF radio-- 50,000 watts of classic comic power!
