The site claims that Rowling has a Time Turner? Pseudoscientific claptrap. Everyone knows that, just as ancient Rome was a medieval invention, there is no record of Shakespeare existing before Rowling's time: no Time Turner needed. Look at every internet site that mentions Shakespeare: every single one of those sites dates to the 1990s or later. Byrne needs to do more research.

Here's a minor one. Note the Jerry Ordway quote. Not a fan of his "too cool for school" attitude towards Supes' trunks. I would've expected a Superman artist of his calibre to have a better understanding of the character's origins. That was the '90s, though; I wonder what his opinion is these days. So... Ordway thought his trunks "had no bearing on the 90's... maybe not even for the 40's". Exactly when did he think people DID run around with trunks on the outside of their pants? "Oh, if you're talking about the 30's, EVERYONE was doing it, but the 40's? No way." Superman's trunks are part of Superman. Period. It was such a dynamic, unique, powerful design choice, that MOST costumes to follow included something similar. If you're ok with the long-johns, the cape, the boots, the big S symbol on the chest, but the trunks are what breaks the fantasy for you, get lost. Go find another hero. By the way, Henry Cavil looks absolutely ridiculous wearing a "more modern design" latex onesie.

I don't hear that at all. I hear about a wonderful guy, who loved his family. Was very giving and a creative dynamo. The fact is his career was full of being cheated and abused. Yet he continued to create. Maybe we are talking about early Evanier and late Evanier? Those of us who are extreme Kirby Kultists have noticed a change in recent years. Before 2000 or so you can find very juicy pro-Kirby quotes from Evanier. And he promised the definitive gigantic Kirby biography that would tell all. But since Marvel started making a ton of money on the movies, well... call it conspiracy theory, but Evanier seems much friendlier to Marvel these days. And the tell-all biography, that seemed to be almost finished, never appears. Maybe he is still proof reading it over at the George R R Martin writers retreat, who knows? I am not accusing Evanier of selling out as such, but I think he is getting older. s I get older I tend to value friendship more than changing the world. Being very popular at Marvel and among fans is a nice place to be... why make waves? I'm speaking mainly from the content of his "KIRBY!" book, from 2008.

So... Ordway thought his trunks "had no bearing on the 90's... maybe not even for the 40's". Exactly when did he think people DID run around with trunks on the outside of their pants? "Oh, if you're talking about the 30's, EVERYONE was doing it, but the 40's? No way." Yeah, a strange surmise, and one I've come across elsewhere, unfortunately. It's something I can imagine an ignorant kid saying with a straight face, but I'd expect better from someone like Ordway. I really hope he was just joking. Agree 100%. I try to respect others' tastes even when I don't share them, but I really can't understand how anyone can look at that or the New 52 suit and think either are an improvement on the classic look.
