And let it be known @bert I am a fan of menudo. A big juicy bowl of it after a long night's drinking is a really great hangover recipe. At least it was for me when I was younger and actually got my drunk on.

At least it was for me when I was younger and actually got my drunk on. ? It is an acquired taste for certain. It has to be cooked properly by someone who has the time and proper skills. Many a New Years Eve in my teens and 20's was spent downing hot spicy bowls after a long night drinking and celebrating. Granted, you have to like a Mexican delicacy creation of a huge pot of kinda stinky sopa (soup) made from beef tripe (cow stomach lining), hominy (corn) and a bit of meat all soaking in a red chili and lime broth which has to be cooked overnite. I truly haven't had any in over 20 years. Much prefer a pot of Pozole though and will usually cook that up every Thanksgiving and Christmas with friends for breakfast. Pork roast slow cooked/braised all afternoon, then placed with hominy in a broth to cook over night which can be either red chili or clear. I prefer the clear broth and we add onions and garlic topped with fresh cilantro in a warm and filling winter treat. |

I never acquired a taste for menudo, but then I just generally don’t like soups. I will eat a bowl of posole now and then though.
