Watched eps 2 and 3 of the McMahon doc. They covered basically the period from the start of SNME to the Montreal Screwjob. They were an easy watch, but covered so much stuff that at times it felt a lot like a WWE produced history doc that just gives you a basic understanding of everything and doesn't really get too in depth on any one topic. The overall theme so far is Vince was a brilliant promoter but wrestling is a sleazy business filled with unsavory characters and a lot of people consider Vince himself to be as bad any of them. Basically the overall tone is neutral and it's up to the viewer to decide based on the evidence presented

Would WWE be allowed to use animals today, or have rules/laws changed? Would it be allowed for pythons, parrots, bulldogs and the like to accompany wrestlers to ringside?
While we’re on such a topic, a lot of old wrestling shows had police officers present, e.g. the MSG tapings. I haven’t seen that in years, if not decades, it’s private security now. Does anyone know what changed?
Sorry for the tedious questions, just curious…

Watching episode 3 of "Mr McMahon" and it's very much a "pot calling the kettle black" situation where Vince got (to borrow an internet phrase) "butthurt" by Hall and Nash "appropriating" his "intellectual properties" when he very much did the same thing during the territory days. Vince is point black asked about and he still believes that he was in the right and doesn't make a distinction between the two

I'd be really excited if Reigns reforms the Shield in some fashion....
Also looking forward to Bronson vs Brawn on RAW tomorrow and surprised this match wasn't featured in Bad Blood instead. Bronson is being groomed to have a title match soon (with Gunther)....

For 1980s NWA fans like me, the WWE Vault YouTube channel is streaming the Feb 1, 1987 Omni show starting in about 15 minutes.
The card:
Road Warriors vs tag champs Rick Rude & Manny Fernandez
Dusty & Nikita vs Ivan and Vladamir Petrov
Wahoo McDaniel vs Tully Blanchard World TV title and $100,000
Ron Garvin & Robert Gibson vs Midnight Express
Brad Armstrong vs Arn Anderson
Bob Armstrong vs Jimmy Garvin
Dutch Mantell vs Bill Dundee
Sadly missing from the tape is Ric Flair and Barry Windham going to a 60 minute draw. Hopefully that can be found at some point. Early 1987 Windham/Flair is my favorite singles match series.

Does anyone know what changed? Sorry for the tedious questions, just curious… No laws prohibiting it, as long as they didn't show abuse to the animals, though groups like PETA might protest, no matter what. Unless they had a really good gimmick, I can't see them shelling the money for a trained animal. The last case of it I can recall is when Jake appeared on RAW, post DDP Yoga, with a new snake. Travelling would be different and the cost of transporting the animals would probably not be worth it. Police officers at ringside were usually employed locally, either by the arena or the promotion; usually off-duty cops. Doug Dillinger, who handled security for WCW, was a longtime Charlotte cop, who used to work Crockett shows. With national companies and insurance companies involved, I suspect they prefer to use their own security, or it is contracted through a security service. Most of the time, when you see security on screen, they are local wrestlers hired to take bumps or work with the contract talent. Also, police salaries tend to be better, proportionally, than they were in the 60s and 70s, so you also had fewer moonlighting cops. I'm sure that the cost of hiring police though a municipality vs private security was a factor. Some forces might have also prohibited it, for liability reasons.

On the tail end of Episode four of "Mr. McMahon" and they get to the incident at "Over The Edge '99". How anybody thought it was the right thing to do to just carry on with the show is just....sick...Vince even said "thank god the lights were out when it happened", like that makes it any better that somebody died in the ring?! Even when his fresh blood was still on the mat?!

Can we get a worldwide crowdfunder going, so we can buy this creep a sailboat and pay him off to retire? Just go away, McMahon!

Last night's main event didn't disappoint....wow, oh wow. I'm starting to like Bronson a whole lot more in this heel run of his.
Good to see Seth back....I'm sure there'll be a feud with Bronson (probably for the next event in Saudi Arabia later this year).

What would you like to see long-term for Bronson?

Sorry for the tedious questions, just curious… Not sure about the animals, but security is a great job for a former wrestler that can't work in the ring any more but you want to keep on the payroll, and has the advantage of being able to take a bump now and then when the story warrants it.
