Look at this: itrwrestling.com/news/vince-mcmahon-has-no-sympathy-for-people-who-retire-go-die/Get lost, ya disgraced moron. Easy for him to say that. What about an old guy who’s been working minimum wage for decades? Or a guy who’s been working in a physically-demanding job for decades? I know someone who may retire next year, he’ll be 67 in 2025, and he works as a glazier. He feels ready to retire. Lots of people find things to do in retirement. I won’t be watching the Netflix documentary, I have no interest in what a morally-lacking guy like him has to say. And what growing did he do? He certainly didn’t grow morally, did he? You're are surprised? Vince has always been a poor example of humanity. He had a crap childhood, by accounts; but, like other promoters, everything and everyone was just a tool to gain money and power. Even the best payoff promoters did despicable things and treated wrestlers like cattle. They may have given them better feed; but, they were still ready to sell them to the slaughterhouse, when the time came.

Surprised? I don’t know. Not really, but now and again, something comes out.
There was an article years ago which stated McMahon hated people sneezing in his presence. As if anyone could really prevent sneezes, especially those of us who have hay fever.
Imagine working for him. I’m not even on about wrestling now, but as, say, an accounts assistant, admin assistant, postroom assistant, whatever jobs were going in WWE HQ. Imagine it being hay fever season - and having some prat look down on you, or dismiss you, because you had the “audacity” not to be able to prevent a sneeze.
So I’m not surprised, but on that retirement quote, especially the bit about people not growing; after 79 years on Earth, he should have grown, maybe developed some self-awareness, humility, etc. Seems he’s the same guy he’s been for a long time.

Twenty five years ago today, Unforgiven aired on PPV: Location: Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina Matches: Val Venis vs. Steve Blackman WWF European Champion Mark Henry vs. D-Lo Brown WWF Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett vs. Chyna The Acolytes vs. The Dudley Boyz WWF Women’s Champion Ivory vs. Luna Vachon WWF Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws vs. Edge & Christian WWF Hardcore Champion Al Snow vs. Big Boss Man (“Kennel from Hell match”) X-Pac vs. Chris Jericho’ Triple H vs. Big Show vs. The British Bulldog vs. Mankind vs. Kane vs. The Rock (Six-pack challenge for the vacant WWF Championship with Stone Cold Steve Austin as special outside enforcer) Thoughts:I don’t really remember much about this one, I thought the Attitude Era had some really poor PPVs at times (main events were usually good, but some undercard matches and feuds didn’t interest me, especially some of the more immature crap). Russo proved once again he had zero talent with that crappy Kennel from Hell match. I guess he found it amusing. I did enjoy the Six-pack challenge, and seeing Davey Boy Smith in contention for the world title was pleasing to me (I wish he’d been given a run). If you ask me, main events aside, 1998-2001 is the most overrated period of WWF history. Some PPVs were a real chore to sit through. At times, I felt like I was simply passing time until the main event. Oh, and I believe the Undertaker was set to be at this PPV, but suffered an injury, hence his poster appearance…

Well, 1999 is the worst in-ring year in WWF history. 2000-01 were much better years. 1998 is good up until SummerSlam and then drops off. Once the WCW guys start jumping, the in-ring product improves a lot.

Welcome back to the thread! That promo was great, probably the best one I’ve seen in five or ten years.

I heard Smackdown will be moving to 3 Hours (like RAW) from Jan 2025.
Just as well, sometimes the 'dark' matches after Smackdown goes off air are better, and again, would sometimes feature RAW stars (making the draft a waste of time).

I do wish wrestling companies would learn that less is more. There are only so many hours in the day, and we’ve all got to work, eat, etc. And WWE should realise that we don’t want to watch just wrestling. From 4-hour podcasts by Jim Cornette to SD going to 3 hours, it’s far too much to even want to keep up with. I don’t know, it’s all too much for me…

As much as I love, enjoy, and have been champion of Smackdown since it's inception, three hours of programming would kill it. Two hours has always been that sweet spot and Smackdown has always had the stigma of being the "lesser" b-tier show. So, if anything, I feel like that would drive away viewership

In their minds, wrestling fans ONLY watch wrestling, and want to devote every leisure hour to it.

I like wrestling and I enjoy it sometimes causally, other times more seriously, but it is not my daily bread and butter. There's more to life than sweaty men playing with each other in a ring

Watched the first ep of the Vince doc and enjoyed it. Very well made and likely compelling to those watching with little knowledge of wrestling but interested in American entertainment. Definitely not a puff piece but also not a no holds barred expose. I'll watch the rest

I'll watch the rest I've been enjoying it as well, but from what I've been hearing WWE are not happy about it and asked Netflix not to release it, but they did it anyway. I wonder of this will affect their mutal dealings next year?

Well, Vince apparently wanted to buy it back from Netflix, but he's not WWE anymore (still feels weird to write that). I mean, it was produced with WWE cooperation and authorization, so they can't really complain
