Announced for August 2021 is Kull the Destroyer: the Marvel Years omnibus. Retailing at $125 it will collect ALL of the 70's Kull comics. Certainly on my pre order list when Amazon lists it. I have not really read much of these as it was truly overshadowed by Conan at the time. Will be great to have this to compliment my Conan omnibus series and finally read. I have the black and white Kull collection of his magazine stories and I am really looking forward to seeing the Ploog and Severin artwork. If you order it from Instocktrades, it’ll be 42% off MSRP Thanks for the tip. Will check into it.

Looks like Marvel is choosing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of their biggest missteps by bringing it back... this is what happens when people get nostalgic for the 90s I guess. I mean Venom and Carnage are all the rage at Marvel now too, so heay as long as people are enjoying and buying it, great, just not for me. I wonder if they'll get Liefeld or Loeb on board for it (Lee's tied up at DC). -M

I remember seeing a full page article in my local newspaper hyping the impending start of the concept and, not being very sophisticated in my tastes at the time, being quite interested in the idea of the Image guys coming back to Marvel. I mentioned it to a friend and we ended up going to a local store to pick up the first issues, which started a 5-6 year peak in my comic fandom, coinciding with having disposable income for the first time, that eventually led to me getting into all kinds of classic comics and making me the fan I am today. So it wasn't all bad lol

Such a powerful concept, able to attract and repel with equal strength

Either way, it's going to end badly

From the art previews I have seen on Bleeding Cool coming form Marvel's Twitter, it seems a What If kind of deal-Ben and Reed with no powers as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents working at the the interdimensional prison Reed designed in Civil War. A powerless Peter Parker as a Bugle photographer on the super-hero beat. Doom with a Juggernaut like helmet and modifications to his armor, etc. looks like lots of either depowering certain characters or mashing up others. The kind of stuff I would tend to classify as things to do to look "kewl" to your readers when you're creatively bankrupt. But hey, I'm just a cynical old guy who prefers actual story ideas to gimmicks in the comics I read. -M

Can't be that much worse than what's going on now really.

This could be interesting, not the book itself, but the potential snowball effect of publicizing comic shops and how to find one. Keanu Reeves made a video in conjunction with BOOM Studios for his (and their youtube channels not only promoting his upcoming BRZRKR book but letting his fans know how to go about getting one or preordering one form a comic shop, and giving tips how to find comic shops in their areas.
Matt Kindt's involvement makes me mildly interested in the book, but I did not back it on Kickstarter nor did I preorder it. I may check it out at some point, but it is the potential marketing value to the industry as a whole that has me interested in this book. Can the Keanu effect bring people to comic shops where things like the MCU has failed to do so? It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Kicking off in February, a new Archie Digest mini-series: Archie 80th Anniversary Jumbo Comics Digest starts off with Crisis on the Riverdale Earths.
This one looks great. I'll definitely grab a copy in February.

Like the recent Spider-Man: Life Story mini-series, the Fantastic Four will get their own version to celebrate their 60th Anniversary. This looks awesome. Not only is Russell one of the best writers in the biz at the moment, but the Spider-Man story was one of the best Marvel comics I've read in recent years. I don't have an extended history with the FF. I will be picking it up for sure.

Really enjoyed Spider-Man: Life Story. Fantastic Four: Grand Design from 2019 covers similar ground, but still looking forward to this and (hopefully) other 60th anniversary FF stuff

Heroes Reborn looks more and more like a What If? Story. I may try it. The Archie digest is a must buy.
