I don't think moderation will be an issue here. I don't think we ever had any fights/problems on the old boards and since everyone here is on an invite basis, it should work out smoothly. I think a little cursing here and there is part of normal adult conversation. As long as it is not negative or directed at others, I would vote against strict anticursing enforcement. I guess I should clarify my point. I don't particularly care all that much about cursing per se. I really like the rules to just be, "be civil". Which to me means, "talk as I would having a beer with a friend". It is different from how I behave when that same friend invites me over his house and his wife and kids and aunt are present, where I may go out of my way to do more than be civil, but actively guard what type of things I see. I'd be more comfortable if this was a bar that my grandmother's house, I guess. |

I don't want that responsibility, so if we start seeing that the community achieves its own balance of appropriateness similar to what we had before, GREAT, and I'm not going to bust someone's chops for dropping a curse here or there. Again, the reason I addressed this at all was that we had a MASSIVE amount of expletives being posted on Day 2. I felt it needed to be nipped in the bud, as this didn't feel like the old community at all. I have no grand plans to implement changes to the community we had, after all. I just want back what we had. |

And, as time goes on, more and more of our members won't have come from there either. These rules need to speak to everyone, and I'd hope that it's implied to those of us from the old forum that the intent is to keep things similar. Why in the world would I start a new forum for the old community just to play police officer at the expense of old friends? |

Most of the cursing was coming from people who were not part of the old community. But at least some of it was coming from someone who was and who should've known better: me. I let the anger and sense of betrayal I was feeling get away from me, directing it at folks who hadn't mean any offense, because I was afraid our new community was about to be warped into something altogether unlike the old one. I should've had more faith in you, shax, and the others. I especially owe SUPERECWetc an apology. Sorry, brother! At any rate, it will NOT happen again. Cei-U! I summon the mea culpa! |
