EW has the exclusive announcementSandman Special plotted by Gaiman with 4 scripters in August and each of those writers launching their own Sandman related title after that... Books of Magic The Dreaming Lucifer House of Whispers... all curated by Gaiman. I'm excited. -M

Here's what Gaiman has to say about the Books of Magic series...
Interesting approach to it.

Those are some incredible covers! And I would readily pick up any of these over the current DC/Marvel stuff. Will at the very least be picking up the 1st few issues of most if not all of them. If done properly I might go the Usagi Yojimbo route picking up monthly issues to help sales and then when TPB's come out I can give away the monthlies to help coax in new readers.

I can definitely see myself giving each of these a shot. I'm not really familiar with any of the writers. I recognize Si Spurrier, but I don't think I've read any of his stuff. I've had stuff by Nalo Hopkinson on my "gigantic to-read" list for a long time, but haven't gotten around to it. I do know she's very highly regarded. I gotta say that I don't envy the guy following up Gaiman and Mike Carey on a Lucifer book.
I trust Gaiman's taste in writers, so I'm looking forward to this.

There's been at least one (if not two) Lucifer series since Carey's series ended. I think Holly Black? did one and there was one based on the same premise as the TV show but I am not sure if that is the one Black wrote. -M

I'll certainly check these out since I'm a big Sandman fan. I never read the original Lucifer series and I really need to get those trades.

I'm just finishing it now, it's pretty good, but not as good as the first series.

Can't wait for this now that I've seen it. I just started a re-read of Sandman a couple of days ago, so the timing of this couldn't be better!

I can't help but wonder how different the current comics landscape would be, at least at DC, if DC had cultivated a healthy relationship with Alan Moore like they've done with Neil Gaiman.

Here's what Gaiman has to say about the Books of Magic series... Interesting approach to it. -M This sounds very promising indeed. The original mini is one of my favorite works by Gaiman but it always seemed like they were unsure of what to do with Tim afterwards. The resultant comic had it's moments but the surge of popularity of Potter in the intervening years has cast some sort of pall over Hunter ever since. I was even thrilled to see his later inclusion in the Justice League Dark series. But yes, I will definitely support this effort, especially with Gaiman's hand on the rudder.
