The wind chill is still about -24F with the winds gusting to about 35mph. Ground is covered in snow that's blowing and drifting.
I just want to hop on a tauntaun, get into a fight with a wampa, and then sort of just lie there until I get a vision of what I'm supposed to do in life next.

I had fun. Our snow shovels were still out in the garage, and when I opened the garage door with the opener form the house and went out to get it, iit had frozen in the open position before I got there and I had to fight with it for 10 minutes out in the cold to get it to close again.

I came back home this afternoon looking exactly like that. It is absolutely freezing outside and i don't want to go out again today. Now i feel dizziness and light fever, so that's probably time to take some m eds from canadian pharmacy .Hopefully i will not get seriously sick, cause that is the worse time for me to skip work.

We're going to get chilly here for a couple of days, but -
This week I saw the first bulbs coming up in the garden. The camellia is in bloom; the hellebores are starting to bloom; the hydrangeas, the rhododendron, and the azaleas are covered with buds; and the iris rhizomes have started to sprout. Spring is coming!

Springtime seemed to have arrived at last, and just in time for Easter we got hit with another ice storm on Wednesday. While not as bad as the five days long ice apocalypse from 1998, this one still left the southern part of the province without power for periods varying from half a day to (((still ongoing... please be patient))).
The darned thing is that both my brother-in-law and elder son work for Hydro-Quebec, and so will miss the Easter family reunion, busily reconnecting hones to the grid. My brother-in-law had also missed Christmas due to freezing rain and blown transformers*.
Countless trees are once again down and blocking the streets of big cities like Montreal. The city of Chateauguay was also flooded for good measure, and a thunderbolt destroyed a tree in one of my friends' backyard.
Mother Nature is drunk.

We're on a yo-yo between early and late spring. Two days ago it was 77 F and sunny, yesterday we had severe thunderstorms roll through and rain all day and temps dropped to the low 30s last night. Today it's back to being sunny, but the highs are barely 50. This process of very warm, then thunderstorms, and then clear and cooler has repeated itself about 4 times over the last 2 weeks, and I am not sure we are at the end of that cycle yet.

It appears to be considering finally being spring. We haven't had any snow in the morning (in the valley) the last two days. It's supposed to get up to 70 Monday. But there's a chance of snow again next Sunday. So it's a normal spring in Idaho.

The difference a week makes...
Last weekend we were recovering from an ice storm, and the temperature hovered near the freezing point. Then it zoomed to July temperatures in just a few days. We beat yet another record high on Thursday, and today our small pond (still frozen over last Monday) is crawling with frogs singing their songs of love.
The car shelter went down this morning (yay!) and we'll spend the afternoon cleaning the yard and getting the pond's filter working again.
It's like Spring doesn't exist anymore. We go from winter to summer in an eye blink!

Here, we are about to enter that blessed time of the year when the house needs neither heating nor cooling.

It's very typical early spring weather for central Croatia, which means frequent rain, occasional thunderstorms interspersed with periods of sunshine. Even had a sprinkling of hail yesterday - although thankfully only tiny, appleseed sized stones. This past winter was pretty mild, although the nights are still a bit unseasonably chilly - we had frost a few nights around Easter. So we still have to fire up the stove in the evening; normally the 'heating season' for us is done by mid-April.

In my weather alert notifier at the bottom of my screen in big angry red letters it says: FIRE WEATHER!
Now I know it means that there is a risk of brush and forest fires due to conditions, but on first glance all I thought of was giant firestorms raining destruction down form the sky. Maybe I consume too much genre fiction.

On May 3 the temperature went above 70 degrees for the first time since October 19. Yesterday it went over 80 degrees for the first time since October 16. And today the forecast says we'll go over 90 degrees for the first time since September 6.
