Officially hit triple digits all weekend so all that was heard throughout the neighborhood was the humming of Air Conditioners. What is sad to me is that so many kicked theirs on immediately full throttle all day and all night early last week. The mornings are splendid with a slow build to the 100 mark by around 11:00am and even then it isn't horrible. By 2-3:00pm is the warmest portion of the day and yet all I required was for the ceiling fans being turned on for remaining comfortable. Now ask me again in 4 weeks and the tune I sing will likely be a bit different as the heat builds and remains during the night and humidity crawls in.
For now though, tis wonderful spring time with the smell of cut and watered lawns, birds a chirping and light breezes blowing through the opened front and back doors while perusing classic comic books. With the added hope the warmth helps end some of the Copid pandemic and speeds solutions our way...

It's May 8th and it's snowing in Pittsburgh.
2020 is one messed-up year, and we haven't even hit Memorial Day yet.

It's May 8th and it's snowing in Pittsburgh. (...) Huh. That reminds me of this bit I saw in one of those Pittsburg Dad YouTube videos, in which he talks about the four seasons in Pittsburgh: winter, more winter, construction and stinkbugs. Looks like you still haven't moved on to construction...

Looks like you still haven't moved on to construction... That's funny, but it really isn't accurate. Winters around here have been relatively mild for about the past decade, so while I get the sentiment, when people complain about neverending winter, they really mean "it isn't hot like summer". Outdoor activities (biking, hiking, soccer, baseball, etc.) start to ramp up in late March/early April, and they can sometimes be done comfortably up until Halloween. Construction "season" is definitely a thing, however. Usually starts in April, runs into November. It's why they joke that the Pennsylvania state flower is the orange rubber construction cone.

More snow flurries... spring has apparently been told to stay confined indoors.

Sunday's high temp was 80.
Monday's high temp was 70.
Tuesday's high temp was 60.
I'm hoping that this trend does not continue today.

Yesterday it hit 80. Today it is snowing in the foothills. So a normal Idaho spring.

What a freaking summer. Daily HEAT records being broken that were set back in the 80's and some since the 40's. As of today 53 days of over 110 degree temperatures. The previous record was 33 days. This weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon) temperature hitting 114 last 2 days and likely the next 2 as well before dropping back to around 100. Usually at this point in September the worst has passed while the temperature is 103 more or less.
So, another record setting weekend for the record books. Scorching if you are out in it and only survivable of a day thanks to air conditioning. I used to barely notice the heat (when young and dumb) but as I am getting older I can truly notice and feel the changes. Getting too old to tolerate this baking heat! I am NOT a potato or pot roast, turn down the heat already!!!

We were supposed to hit 100, but I think it fell a bit short. However, we’re supposed to have a high of 60 and a low of 35 on Tuesday. Then back to the upper 80s by next weekend.
Idaho’s weather is bi-polar.

Yesterday may have been the best weather day in Pittsburgh this year, if not years. 78 for a high, virtually no humidity, bright sunshine all day long, 60 for an overnight low. I spent 6 hours outside staining my deck, and I barely sweated at all.

Getting a bit of smoke the last few days, not sun looks like a red tomato thick but close to a tangerine around sunset, which I'm sure it was in Seattle much of today. Worried about people in Oregon and California, terrible fires again this year. Good thoughts for Rob Allen!

Thanks, beccabear67! The nearest fire is a good ten miles away, and the wind is finally changing. Local air quality has been improving for a couple of hours, and is slated to continue improving all night. This weather/fire episode started the night before Labor Day, with strong, hot, dry winds all over the area. It was windy until Wednesday; lots of tree branches are down, pine needles, leaves all over the place. But I haven't cleaned any of it up because they advise not doing strenuous activity outside while the air is so smoky. We've mostly stayed in the house with the doors & windows closed and the fan running to pull air thru a filter. Visibility has been like a foggy morning all day for days but it doesn't feel like fog because the air is so dry. The haze blocks the sun so well that the temperatures on the ground have been cool the last few days. I hope the forecasts are right and this is about to be over.

Hope things continue to improve for you, Rob Allen. Good idea to stay inside till the skies clear.
