WIesbaden has been surprisingly pleasant for February. Still on the cold side, but sunny and much warmer than January.
In Madrid for the weekend and it's lovely. Sunny, temps in the 60s. Perfect.

What a mess of a day! Started with 5-8 inches snow locally in the morning. Went to sleet in the afternoon. Now in the early evening we are getting freezing rain which is putting a coating of ice on everything! Supposed to change over to rain by midnight! And tomorrow the highs are supposed to be in the 50's!

brutalis don't you live in Arizona? Did you get any snow? The news said areas in the southwest got snow...even Las Vegas? No snow for me here in Phoenix but 2 steady drizzling days of light rain dropping the temperatures. We were in the mid 70's last weekend and then Wednesday I wake to 36 degree night temperatures and mid 40's during the last 2 days. ALL of the snow has been record breaking yesterday when it did hit. Flagstaff reported 31 1/2 inches and down into Payson and Prescott snow of around 21 inches. All of the major northern highways were blocked with snow plows working in ZERO visibility. Many of the smaller towns up north were cut off from the larger cities. ALL of the northern cities have listed yesterday as disaster level snow and called for state of emergency measures asking everyone to stay home and off the roads. Schools, government and local shops were all closing up yesterday and today in the northern/mountain cities.

SNOWING
Around quarter to 5 this morning at Starbucks, I saw SNOW falling to the ground and it will continue to snow until 8am according to my local forecast. I had a half of inch of snow on the ground in 20 minutes in near-blizzard conditions took me another 5 minutes to get home because the visibility was poor.

After 3 snow storms in 3 days dumping a total of 14 inches... we have had 4 days in a row where it never got above freezing. Tomorrow we may get above freezing but also more snow. But after that highs in the 40's for several days.

A week and a half ago record snow in the mountains and freezing levels at night here in the valley. This week into the mid to high 70's. They say will be high 60's through mid 70's for a week or two. Is my winter over now?!?

Here in Iowa the winter is over; that's the problem.
It's cold enough that the ground is still frozen, the record snowfall is melting and more rain on top of it is causing flooding.
Roads become impassable, crops don't get planted on time thus affecting yields and price per bushel and the whole Midwestern economy.
Animals get stuck in the mud and get sick, needing veterinary care and $$. Animals freeze and die.
My son is in Nebraska and said this was the second day they sent everyone home because of the roads. The eastern 2/3rds of Nebraska has a huge amount of closed roads.

Crocuses and daffodils are blooming like mad here in the Portland area. March 15-18 had high temperatures in the 60s; the last time we had 4 days in a row in the 60s was November 1-4.

Last 2 days has been 10+ degrees higher than normal. Yesterday high 86 according to my back porch and news reports as 83. Cooling down the next few days as a storm pushes through so drop into mid 70's and then back toward mid to high 80's for Saturday and Sunday.
SUMMER is COMING! Winter has fled. Let's see the Stark's of Game of Throne's run around in that armor here in Phoenix during the summer. Be like wearing a giant frying pan with the smell of bacon cooking wafting upon the wind...

Atlanta now is 58 degree and sunny, in my hometown it's 75 and sunny.
I'm in Atlanta, and will be traveling back home tomorrow ... be back home around Noon time. I really enjoyed this vacation and it was fun seeing our College Friends and talking about the good times that we had in the late 70's and early 80's.

50's and melting snow here in Iowa.
Normally spring is my favorite time of year but not when it's flooding.
Nebraska has gotten hit the worst so far but the flood season has only started for Iowa I'm afraid.
52 of Iowa's 99 counties are now considered disaster areas.
My hometown is in one of those counties. My parents still live on the farm and their driveway of crushed granite got washed out for 3 days.
Willow Creek has still been under control.
I was supposed to go to Nebraska for my monthly visit but I don't think there's any point until things start to get better.
South of my parents there's 4' - 6' of standing water in people's homes.

Sheesh. Sunday was 91 degrees. Monday my car thermometer on drive home at 4:00pm showed 38 degrees (news reported high as only 94) and today another 94 degrees posted by the news. Supposed to have some wind and clouds with lowering the temperature into the mid 70's for the next 3-4 days. Living in the desert here in Arizona sure has changed from when I was a child. Higher temp's and less rain are now the normal. If I can only survive the next 5-7 years until retirement to the mountains of Colorado...

Hot and humid here in Florida. We had a relatively nice spring, but I think summer is fast approaching. :-(
