Incidently, when Batman #1 from the New 52 came out...I *hoarded* 200 copies that I got through my dealer inclusive of the Diamond discount.
I've been selling individual copies for as high as $60 each and I'm down to my last 30...which I'll stash away.
Hoarding goes hand in hand with speculating, which isn't always a bad idea.

If you have the resources and the savvy to do it, then more power to you. I haven't heard of any major shortages of Batman #1, so I don't think your "hoarding" has had a major effect on anything. If there are people willing to pay that for them, they might as well pay it to you as someone else on Ebay. |

What do I know? I told everyone in my office to buy The first Simpson's comic way back when because that seemed to be a no-brainer. And for the next few years they would ask me what its worth and I kept saying cover price,cover price. I felt like a fool |

In fact, I referred to myself that way just a few hours ago in response to a shax post about Deadly Hands of Kung Fu (describing how I've found no copies of the mag inexpensive enough for my penurious tastes) in an FB group devoted to '70s comics. My go-to line here got that way because it's completely applicable -- I'm cheap & I'm (reolatively) poor; if I'm going to be one, I might as well the other. |
