Batman/Elmer Fudd Written by Tom King Art by Lee Weeks and Byron Vaughns Summary: In the first of two stories Batman and Elmer Fudd get entangled in a plot by Silver St. Cloud and in the second...it's Bat Season. Plot: I wasn't sure how this was going to work out but I loved it. In the first story Tom King turned Fudd and the rest of the Looney Tunes into characters that looked right at home in Batman's world and I loved the inclusion of Silver St. Cloud. She played Batman and Fudd against each other and the conclusion with Fudd, Bugs and Batman ordering carrot juice at Porkey's Bar was perfect. The second story was fun too, with Batman standing in for Daffy Duck in the classic Rabbit season show down with Fudd. Art: I really loved Weeks' looks for the Looneytunes, especially the look for Bugs as a stand in for Humphrey Bogart as a hitman. Grade:10/10

Written by Mark Waid and Ian Flynn. Art and Cover by Derek Charm. Because of a spell cast by Sabrina every female in town is in love with Jughead. However the gang thinks it is some kind of hypnotic control by Agent Stanger (from #1-6) as revenge on Jughead. Archie flirts with Sabrina. Reggie's plan to get the girls to fixate on him backfires. Sabrina casts another spell & the story ends with all the girls in Riverdale hating Jughead. Another fun story. Waid & Flynn continue the style Ryan North had been using. This issue had Sabrina, Josie & the Pussycats, a homage to Jughead: the Hunger. It even referenced the first arc. Charm's art is...charming. The downside? No next issue. According to Waid the series is going on hiatus (I hope it is not canceled). It is not in the July, Aug & Sept solicits. 9/10.

Written by Matt Kindt. Art by Doug Braithwaite. Cover by Lewis LaRosa. Aric continues to fight a war he never wanted to be involved in. He fights other factions on this planet. He gets a reprieve & goes home to Schon. He finds the armor waiting for him & the armor has been "talking" to Schon. The war continues. Aric continues to excel. The armor protects him overtly this issue. However the armor wants him to bond again & forces his hand by contacting Schon. The direction in this re launch continues to be a highlight every month. Great story. Great art. Great concept. 9/10.

Written by Joshua Williamson. Art by Carmine Di Giandomenico, Neil Googe, Ryan Sook. Basically a retelling of Reverse-Flash's origin with some "tweaks" in the Rebirth version. Thawne reveals Barry's ID to Iris. 3 different artists. All great but with different styles. This issue was good...but not great. I suspect next issue the story will pick up. 7/10.

Written by Greg Rucka. Art by Liam Sharp and Bilquis Evely. Cover by Liam Sharp. Rucka's last issue. Ties up all the story lines of the last 24 issues. Scenes with the JLA, Steve Trevor, Veronica Cale, Superman & Batman. She gets her lasso back from the gods. And gets a new start in a new home with Steve Trevor (which I loved). The ending to an uneven run by Rucka. This issue was setting up a status for the next creative team. This issue: 7/10. Rucka's run: 7/10. (mostly because of the Year One issues & his portrayal of Steve Trevor).

Doctor Aphra #8 Written by Kieron Gillen Art by Andrea Broccardo Summary: The screaming citadel concludes with Luke's confrontation with the Queen. Plot: When this story started I was entranced by the idea of the mix of horror, fantasy and science fiction but while it started well it trailed off more as it went on with the conclusion being a little more than lack luster. The eerie mood introduced at the start was never sustained, the characters didn't do anything interesting and in the end Luke didn't really learn anything about the Force either. Grade: 5/10

Yeah, I haven't been King's biggest fan either though I really enjoyed this issue as well as Batman #25 as well so maybe he does have some interesting stories left to tell.

I still don't have Batman #25. The guys at the comic-book shop told me the 2nd printing would show up in a week or two or three.
Apparently, Batman #25 is being grabbed up by people who think it's a continuation of #24. But that plot thread is not going anywhere until #28 or #29. If it's true, I don't have Batman #25 yet because speculators are dumb.

Thoughts on Wonder Woman #25: I didn't dislike it, but I didn't particularly like it either. The parts I enjoyed: the scene where Superman and Batman try to assist WW after noticing her change in mood and the lasso is gone. I enjoyed the scenes with Steve Trevor, especially the last few pages and am glad they are established as being a couple again. The issue really didn't clear anything up for me and this point, I can't recall all the details of the past year's Godwatch/Veronica Cale/Cheetah/ story. While there were parts of the past year I really enjoyed (the year one revamped story and the first few issues where Wonder Woman and Steve are reunited), for the most part this run is a bit of a muddled mess. Maybe it was such a long story I just lost interest. Sharp's art was great. The scene towards the end where Wonder Woman confronts the gods was lavish and very detailed. He also draws an awesome Superman, Flash, and Batman. Evely's art was ok, however in one panel Superman looked...not so Superman and had the posture of an elderly person. Something about the way she drew his cape was off too. Very minor complaint and overall, I think she hit her stride late in the series. Overall, Wonder Woman seems to be primed as a major force in the Rebirth Universe. I am sure many others enjoyed this story (more than I did) and that is wonderful. I am going to stick around for a bit to see what happens with WW and Steve. 7/10

Astro City #45
Blue meta-dude is back! And this time he's stays focused enough to tell the whole story! (Or so it seems. It's continued in the next issue, unless the "to be concluded" blurb at the end is just another one of blue meta-dude's cruel tricks!)
I'm not going to spoil it for all those Astro City fans who might want to see it for themselves.
I have mixed feelings. On one hand, it's nice to see this particular little Astro City thread resolved; it's been sort of hanging there since the second issue of the first Astro City limited series. On the other hand, I've always wanted to see a full Bouncing Beatnik story a heckuva lot more than I ever needed any resolution to the Bouncing Beatnik question or any revelation of the Bouncing Beatnik's secrets.
Well, I'll see how it all comes out in the conclusion.

Action Comics #982: Revenge steps on the gas in this fast paced issue. The Revenge Squad comes together and brings the fight to the Fortress of Solitude where Superman is dealing with being blind (as a result of being in the Black Vault). Despite the loss of his sight he takes the Revenge Squad head on, while worrying about Lois and Jon's safety. The art is superb. Jack Herbert relies on good old fashioned talent and classic layouts. The last page promises that the momentum will continue....although seeing all the Superman Family together really made me miss Kon-El. 9/10

Wonder Woman 77 Meets The Bionic Woman #5: Not much to say about this issue, other than it is pure fun--but sort of reads like fan-fiction (which is ok with me, haha!). Jaime Sommers saves Wonder Woman's life after Dr. Cyber's attack. Much of the issue showcases the Bionic Woman as she rallies the troops on Paradise Island who are trying to stop an invasion of Fembots and men. Wonder Girl and Max the bionic dog are featured as well (along with supporting characters and villains from each of the tv shows). The art is ok, some scenes are better than others. 6/10 fun factor:9
