Really sad out in the holiday shopping world lately. Spent the morning Halloween browsing in specialty (3 Spirit stores minutes away) along with Walmart/Target ( 2 near me) to see what I might find. Guess what I found? Nothing, nada, zip! Empty aisles full of nothingness. Every store I stopped at looked like the day AFTER their holiday. Trashed, thrashed and smashed. All looked like they hadn't ordered new items or stock and simply put out their leftover blackstock from the last5 years of storage instead of donating it to Goodwill.
No decorating attempts to help set the mood for spending and nothing worth buying. It's going to be a very long, boring, depressing end of 2021 methinks.

I don't buy a lot of Halloween decor per se, but it's usually a great time to stock up on props and/or terrain (gravestones, haunted houses, etc.) to use in my D&D games. Walmat and Dollar Tree have been a bust so far, but I do want to check out Michael's (crafts) in the coming week to see what they have, as I have seen some cool stuff in their online ads. -M

What I have heard from the news is that there is a shortage of truck drivers and that might cause many Christmas items to be scarce.

I was looking at when TV shows aired (partly due to my re-starting the Twilight Zone) and I noticed that Friday night in the 66-67 television season had The Green Hornet, The Wild Wild West and Tarzan (Ron Ely) running against each other. That would have been absolute torture.

That would have been absolute torture. ...and it caused a lot of arguments in our household between my mother--who had a major crush on WWW's Robert Conrad--and a certain 9-year-old super-hero fanatic. I only got to watch Green Hornet if my folks went out that night. Nobody wanted to watch Tarzan.
Cei-U! I summon the Friday night fights!

That would have been absolute torture. Very little me would have preferred Tarzan (in fact, very little me did occasionally watch reruns of Ely's Tarzan in the early to mid '70s). Slightly older me definitely would have been all for Green Hornet. In fact, I think I'd still vote for Green Hornet even now.

I was lucky: we only had one channel until the mid-70s. And the only thing available on Friday was Tarzan!

My grandmother, my father's mother, had a huge crush on Johnny Weissmuller so that is the Tarzan I grew up watching. I've never seen any other representation of the character in TV/film.

My grandmother, my father's mother, had a huge crush on Johnny Weissmuller so that is the Tarzan I grew up watching. I've never seen any other representation of the character in TV/film. You need to fix that ASAP! Over the decades there have been plenty of actors swinging through the jungle and each delivers a unique interpretation to enjoy. I grew up on Weissmuller and Ely so they are who I immediately envision. Yet, I have followed each new movie and over time have managed to pick up on DVD those I missed out on. I have grown to like Lex Barker. Joe Lara gave a strong television persona as an educated articulate jungle hero. Jock Mahoney is probably the toughest most physical Tarzan ever seen on film. Enjoyed Mike Henry and Caspar Van Dien putting on the loin cloth. Christopher Lambert gave an astounding performance of what a real Tarzan might actually be like. And while the most recent Tarzan movie was over CGI'd Alexander Skarsgard was awesome as Lord Greystoke. Overall I can say the Lord of the Jungle and protector of the Apes has had the best casting in actors. Each delivering thrills and fun for us all.

I was a huge fan of Wild Wild West in reruns. It still holds up fairly well. I liked Ely’s Tarzan in reruns but haven’t revisited. I’ve never actually watched Green Hornet. It had such a short run it never really was in syndication.
