I wonder if anyone has ever looked up the members of that commune family for a where-are-they-now feature ...

When I was a teen phones were still rotary...internet was not even a twinkle in the eye of Al Gore -M Did you have a party line? I didn't, but some of my friends on the North Side still did. And my Grandparents got rid of their party line when I was a kid. My concept of 'party lines' is Mayberry: 'Howdy, Sarah! Just fiiiine, thank yew! Couldja put me through to Mount Pilot? All righty!'

I wonder if anyone has ever looked up the members of that commune family for a where-are-they-now feature ... See earlier post. "They moved back in with Earth's parents and went into finance after Altamont changed the vibe and they're all voting for Trump." Like so many others of the generation that took to the streets against an immoral war in Southeast Asia (when there was a draft) and stayed home to cheer Shock and Awe during an immoral war in the Mideast (when there was no longer a draft). Mission Accomplished, indeed.

It was awesome when telephone numbers actually had letters that stood for something to help you remember them Like: MUrray Hill 7-8812.I remember when the Princess Phone design seemed futuristic

And those phones were awesomely durable. I can't tell you how many times a girlfriend would throw the phone at my head during an argument and I would be bleeding like a struck pig, rushed to the hospital to receive multiple stitches but that phone would never break. It was a good phone

It helped diminish the violence against another person by letting you take out your anxiety on the phone. Of course, I knew a guy whose wife strangled him in his sleep with the phone cord....... Also those princess phones flew thru the air like a football with a beautiful spin to them. And the sound was clear as a bell when you called for an ambulance on your blood-caked princess phone. It was a good phone

Also, up till maybe the mid-70s, in at least one town nearby, you only had to dial the last four digits of a local number and not the 3-digit exchange. The town I lived in in rural Maine in 1980-1982 did that. -M
