Should there be a SELLING/BUYING forum? I know it was not allowed on CBR, but I think it would be a good idea here! What better place to sell your doubles than on a Comics message board! I see this as a Pandora's box that is begging for trouble. I've seen other forums do this, and the amount of drama that pops up when a transaction goes bad just absolutely isn't worth the hassle; plus there's the issue of legal liability if we provided a place for them to broker the deal. I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole.

I would vote against the rotating banner. I find it rather distracting to the eyes. I like the variety it allows, but I like a webpage to remain still even more. If it were really slowed down, like so it only moved every few minutes, I might mind less. I have no objection to slowing it down, as long as you pair that change with the randomization of the sequence (applied to total viewing time).

The banner was made with a simple GIF creator that does not offer randomization as an option. If anyone else is able to create something that can randomize, that would be great. I'm still not settled on the rotating banner, myself, and am interested in hearing more input. I am concerned by Scott Harris' comment that, for him, the images weren't fitting to scale and were repeating. I encountered this when trying to view the site through my old (non-smart) phone, but have encountered it nowhere else.

That's cumbersome. It can be overcome manually, but even a small task can be big if you're busy.

As impressed as even I am with how much I've been able to do with this forum in only four days, I must confess that I have my limits. I know my html pretty well, but I don't have the first clue what I'm doing with java script.

I liked the thread where we passed along books we no longer wanted to others, but I don't recall a quid pro quo arrangement. I'd rather avoid two way transactions, both because of legal liability and because transactions gone wrong create hostility, unless someone can convince me otherwise.

I'd rather avoid two way transactions, both because of legal liability and because transactions gone wrong create hostility, unless someone can convince me otherwise. There was no quid pro quo requirement, but a lot of people who responded to the thread when I revived it were looking explicitly for trades and wanted to make things even. I didn't mind per se, I would have given the books to whomever asked anyways, but if it made them feel better about it I was cool, I always let them determine what they thought was fair. I thought about reviving the Classic Comics Exchange here, but I didn't really want it to become a trading thread exclusively, and there is already a books you can't find locally thread that could lead to people helping each other out getting books and replacing what the CCE did. I would say most of that should be conducted via PM between members and not part of the site per se, if liability is an issue. When it was an entity like CBR at the helm, I wasn't quite so concerned, when it is an individual, especially one I consider a friend, who is the site owner, I am more concerned and willing to be more circumspect. -M

So here's the problem with the banner -- I have it looking perfect for most high resolution desktops right now (and I believe it's totally deactivated for mobile users), but it fits wrong when viewing on a lower resolution screen. Is there some sort of javascript I can paste into the board that auto-adjusts the size of the banner to compliment the resolution of the screen?

Playing with the banner this morning… I noticed, it now starts with different orders. How did you do it?

If I restart Safari, the Avengers are displayed first. But if I go to another page, and come back later, that's not always the case. Maybe it's the browser's cache.

Another Suggestion - Is it possible(would it be a good idea) to have the City, Province/States and/or Country under the name or the avatar? I don't think it's something too personal (and anyway people don't have to put it if they don't want to) and it would be helpful for example the "Exchange" or "Free Books" thread, as I don't mind paying shipping to send books to Canada but it's a bit expensive for me for the USA.
And it could also be fun to see if anybody is close to you.
