George Perez recently stated that he would not visit the Red States ( States that voted for Trump) and do shows there. What's next? Is he going to personally ask everyone who wants an autograph who they voted for before he signs? Just dumb and immature.
There I said it.

Is he going to personally ask everyone who wants an autograph who they voted for before he signs? Just dumb and immature. There I said it. Humberto Ramos has said the same thing. He took it a step further and cancelled booked appearances in those states while Perez said he will honor commitments to shows he has already made. Several other creators of Latino descent or of the Muslim faith have decided to do the same thing. They do not feel welcome in those states who chose a candidate who singled out their ethnicity or religion, so choose not to go there. I may not agree with their decision, but that's the beauty of a free country with free speech, you can make those kind of decisions if that is what your conscience tells you that you should do. I don't have to agree with someone's decision to respect it. There, I said it. -M I do not respect their decisions, but I respect that each person has to do what they think is right. There's a difference.

If these creators want to be so political they should also appreciate that Republicans might in turn, boycott their work. Why should I support them? Why should any comic store with an owner who voted for Trump?
I'll be deciding what to get rid of today, it helps that I don't fancy Humberto's art, but I am disgusted by their actions.

If these creators needed the money , they wouldn't boycott. Maybe the'll start getting "uninvited" to other states.

I'm sad that George Perez has chosen this course of action. While it's certainly his right to make this decision, it seems a little "scorched earth" to me. There are a lot of folks in red states who voted for Hillary, didn't vote for either major candidate and voted third party, weren't able to vote (I was out of town for work on Election Day), or can't vote (people under 18) being affected by his decision.
It comes off as spiteful, and unfortunately, it lends more ammunition to those on the right who feel that the left looks down on those who don't think or act like them, as though they know what's best for everyone.
This doesn't make me think any less of Perez as an artist, but I've definitely lost some respect for him as a person.

Yeah, the Perez and Ramos thing seems idiotically short-sighted. I mean, it's obviously meant as a way to "punish" those fans who voted for Trump, but clearly it punishes a whole lot of other people too. It's like Neil Gaiman saying that he doesn't like the Tory government and therefore he won't come to the constituency that I live in because it's the safest Tory seat in the country. Never mind that there's a thriving Lib Dem and (to a lesser extent) Labour base in this constituency as well and, dare I say it, most comic book fans probably fall into one of those two camps, rather than hardened Tory voters. Why punish those with the same political leanings as you just because they happen to live in an area that voted right-wing?
Yeah, listening to your conscience is one thing, but it's kinda hard to respect if you're also acting like an idiot.

It would be more logical to attend events in red states and making a point of wearing a Hillary t-shirt saying "popular vote winner". If the goal is to put politics above comics, that is, which is kind of moot after an election.
Then again this looks like a knee jerk reaction, purely emotional, and I doubt Perez and Ramos will wait until 2020 to visit those states again. It doesn't make much sense in that it hurts their fans (all of them, irrespective of how they voted, if they voted at all) and is unlikely to change the mind of a single voter. It's a counter-productive decision.

I have no idea if those guys get an appearance fee for attending those shows, but they have to be making money off of it somehow for it to be worth their while to travel to all of those shows. Instead of leaving that cash on the table, it would make more sense and be more helpful in the long run to continue making those appearances and donating the money (that they were perfectly fine walking away from anyway) to causes in those states that they support.

Well said! There are many organizations defending causes dear to the Dems that would benefit from art auctions. Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness, as they say. (Who are "they"? Why, candle makers, of course!)

This whole election has cause nothing but knee jerk reactions. Celebrities saying they'll leave the country. Cher is supposed to be going to Jupiter. Hasta la vista.

Wish more of my female friends would learn how to change a tyre.
Also, wish guys would stop gawking if they see a female actually changing a tyre.
Also, wish my mechanic, husband and my dog would not feel the need to go inspect the new tyre to make sure I put it on properly.
Although, I don't mind a man's help to do some extra tightening with that lug-nut wrench after.

When I build stuff or put things together that men normally do, somebody has to go over and shake it to make sure it's stable! And at work, everybody and their brother wants to run over to assist me in lifting heavy things. Like, a guy the other day asked for a 65 inch tv and I carried the box out from the back, he looked startled and said "oh, honey, aren't there any guys who can do that for you?!" Like...they're busy, and I got this? Again though, no offense to anyone. Andladies do it to me too. There i also said it!
