Salo is one I really do mean to watch and try to trump my reservations about what I might see. Reading up about the director alone, when I first came across the movie's legendary status as disturbing, is a good indication this movie is more than exploitation. Some day I will.
Bettie Mae Page -- April 23, 1923 - December 11, 2008 Prince Rogers Nelson -- June 7, 1958 - April 21, 2016 “We’re all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesn’t. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities, we are eaten up by nothing." -- Charles Bukowski
Well, all in all Tarantino has only made 8 movies so far if I remember correctly
Reservoir Dogs Pulp Fiction Jackie Brown Kill Bill Death Proof Inglorious Basterds Django The Hatefull Eight
I guess the ones I'd be interested in rewatching would be Reservoir dogs (haven't seen it since its release 24 years ago), Death Proof and The Hatefull Eight. I've enjoyed most upon watching them, but maybe didn't find enough substance to my tastes.
His movies are all overwritten, pretentious, "precious" and gratuitous. Despite thinking he's a puke of a person, I have liked some of his movies and admit he's a good writer. Or can be. Most all of his movies imo have good even great ideas and scenes etc. (dusk). but I think only pulp fiction holds up as a well rounded complete enjoyable whole. Everything else is just partially good or "good up to a point" (django). Near every one is significantly longer than it should be and elements (usually violence/violent scenes) are crazier longer and more graphic than Nec (kill bill, etc etc). I still love pulp fiction. I liked Jackie brown but needed 30 min of wasted time chopped off. I quite liked inglorious bastards. Django was excellent for the first 30-45 min. Everything is just interesting or OK in parts.
I could tolerate Reservoir Dogs, and most of Pulp Fiction...but was well aware of the 'You MUST think Tarantino is a GENIUS or you SUCK!' vibe permeating both films. 'KIll Bill' is the one I never finished. Basically a snuff film...with martial arts. And lesbians. And lesbians doing martial arts. And each other. And killing. Each other. And everybody. After doing each other. Sometimes before. Sometimes during. Oh, and that f***ing 'WOO HOOO WOO HOO HOOOO' song that became the Vonage jingle. F** that movie twice just for that.
Kill Bill had lesbians?
Must've been a different cut than the one you me, and everyone else in the entire world apart from realjla saw.
I consider Pulp Fiction to be one of the top movies in the last 20 years. It is totally unpredictable, Something that is rare these days.
Pulp Fiction is the one Tarintino film that I just cannot get into. I have tried numerous times over the years to try and "get it" but I just find it BORING. I like all of his other movies though. Give me Death Proof over this film any day of the week.
You found Pulp Fiction boring, but you liked Death Proof?

I suppose I can see why a person who finds it necessary to abbreviate the word "necessary" to "Nec" might also find Tarantino's films overwritten and longer than they should be!

I apologize for bringing up Tarantino. I didn't mean for it become what is has.

All in good fun, as far as I'm concerned. I never expect everyone to agree with all my likes and dislikes when it comes to movies, books, music, comics, etc.

If I admit I was wrong, can the subject die? My point was, I didn't finish watching the movie because it was a steaming turd. If I gave enough of a damn to go back and rewatch it, I would.

Yes, as penance for your rant based on your imagination you should rewatch it and report back. If you admit your wrong that is

There were really a lot of strong female characters in Kill Bill. I found the second movie hard to watch because of the suffering the bride went through.

Best part of Part 2...
Master Pai Mei. Love to land a clout on his monkey ass so he'd worship me instead of being an ignorant, sexist, racist sob...which was actually his charm.

Oo, I love it when people screw up 'you're and your' when they're trying to 'pwn' an argument..;-)
