Christopher Nolan's Batman movies range from mediocre to terrible. There I said it. And you keep reminding me why I respect your taste in fiction.

Rocky Horror is a lot like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 in that it's not about the movie itself, it's about the experience of watching it. If you don't enjoy that communal experience that is RHPS, the movie won't salvage your enjoyment. Just watching the movie itself without the communal experience is kind of pointless too. It's not a good movie, but it was always a fun experience when I went to see it with friends and colleagues, and made new friends from the experience. But yeah, the movie is terrible. But I love me some Let's Do the Time Warp Again! -M This, exactly. My friends and I used to go see RHPS at midnight a couple of times per month when we were in high school. The only theater that showed it was on the other side of the city, so we would pile into a couple of cars, trek over there with our props, watch it with people from all over the city, hit a diner on the way back for greasy comfort food, and then hang out on someone's porch or patio until the sun came up Sunday morning. It wasn't about the movie, because the one time we tried to watch it on VHS in someone basement, we bailed on it about 25 minutes in, but rather about having something that was "ours" and creating an experience around it. And MST3K is just brilliant television, especially the pre-SciFi Channel episodes. They are on Amazon Prime, and I can watch them over and over again without ever getting bored.

I have not watched it. Along with the other comments, I guess I am glad I never did. As for my participation in the thread on the subject .... I have never enjoyed a Tarantino movie and stopped after only three or four. In fact he was so annoying and obnoxious in Desperado that it was gratifying he wasn't in it long. Edit: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill. All bleh to boderline tolerable, which was Jackie Brown cause Pam Grier *rowr* I couldn't finish Django Unchained. I could tolerate Reservoir Dogs, and most of Pulp Fiction...but was well aware of the 'You MUST think Tarantino is a GENIUS or you SUCK!' vibe permeating both films. 'KIll Bill' is the one I never finished. Basically a snuff film...with martial arts. And lesbians. And lesbians doing martial arts. And each other. And killing. Each other. And everybody. After doing each other. Sometimes before. Sometimes during. Oh, and that f***ing 'WOO HOOO WOO HOO HOOOO' song that became the Vonage jingle. F** that movie twice just for that. His worse gimmick, for the lack of a better word, as a producer is his penchant for making snuff film level violence in everything he does to the point it is the story not an aspect of the story. It seems to come off like a sheltered adolescent acting out cause he finally can. That's of course just my observation and opinion on his movies. It's quite obvious by sales he's a well received producer.

That's the 2nd time the term 'snuff film' has been used here and as far as I know, no one has ever been killed or even hurt while filming was going on. Call him a director of violent/exploitation type movies and that's fine but you lose me tossing out this snuff film accusation. And then Tarrentino is far from the only director who specializes in the sort of movie making because there are quite a few others, specifally in the horror genre. I wouldn't consider myself a huge fan of his but I do like his style, I do like his sense of humor, I do like the way he tells a story, I do like his use of soundtracks, I do like the way he celebrates the 1970s style of grindhouse films., I do like the way he casts his films. I'd also probably like all the lesbians he uses if I could find them

My apologies. I should have said explotation. And no he's not but I avoid most of those directed movies as well. His name just came to mind in the vein of this thread being unpopular opinions.

I really do have a very unpopular opinion about the man. ;-) I love pretty much all of his movies. No all of them are home runs, but every one is interesting. It's fine you don't like them. To each their own. But he's frequently...almost always, really...going for exploitation. Again it's hard to be mad at him for hitting his target.

Im not necessarily mad at him anymore than I am at Croenburg for his repeated, body torture, I believe is the correct term, it's just my taste and an unpopular opinion as is the intent of the thread. The difference in watching Tarantino over Croenburg is that I've enjoyed a few of the latter' movies and none of the former.

Even thought he's leading in most of the polls, I refuse to believe that Trump is REALLY running for the Republican nomination. It just feels ....sort of staged. Like he's doing a reality show. There. I said it. From your lips to GOP's ears.

Agree that the Nolan Batman films aren't very good.
Re Tarantino, I think there is a lot of depth to his films underneath the violence and exploitation trappings. He hasn't made a bad movie, IMO. Very curious to see what he'll move to next - science fiction? Espionage? Superhero? Any rumours out there?

I consider Pulp Fiction to be one of the top movies in the last 20 years. It is totally unpredictable, Something that is rare these days. Pulp Fiction is the one Tarintino film that I just cannot get into. I have tried numerous times over the years to try and "get it" but I just find it BORING. I like all of his other movies though. Give me Death Proof over this film any day of the week.
