Seven months in. Felt it was time for an update. I've read and reviewed A LOT more than I expected to already this year.
1. Buy no more than 200 back issues. Maybe finish my Batman #100 and up run and my Avengers #85-300 run. Possibly assemble a Micronauts run. Buy more books for my Doug Moench reviews. (I may have gone a little over 200 for the year, but not by much)
2. Read at least 300 unread books in my collection (currently at 218 as of June 24)
3. Re-read at least 100 books in my collection (completed)
4. Do at least 12 Batman reviews (1 down as of June 24)
5. Do at least 12 Superman reviews (revised: now shooting for 30)
6. Do at least 6 THUNDER agents reviews (4 down as of May 10)
7. Do at least 6 Nick Fury reviews (2 down as of May 10)
8. Review the remaining Warren stories, and then review every b/w magazine Doug Moench wrote for Marvel. (18 Warren stories left as of May 10)
9. Start the Post-Crisis Justice League thread and get in at least 12 reviews (completed)

So June is winding down, half the year gone, and people are checking in on their progress towards 2016 goals...so might as well look in.. In 2016 I hope to… 1. finish reading (or rereading) the following runs -Master of Kung Fu (completed 1/12/16) -Jon Sable, Freelance (completed 1/7/16) -Warlord -Micronauts (completed 2/21) -Bone (completed 1/5/16) -The black and white Zot! -Bendis Daredevil (on Unlimited) (completed 1/10/16) -Priest’s Black Panther (on Unlimited) (completed 2/15) -A Distant Soil -Finder -Saga of the Swamp Thing -Sandman So completed 6/12 of the goals, and made some minor progress on 1 other, but haven't touched 5 of them. 2. continue reading/rereading through the following runs/series -Conan the Barbarian (read through #40 as of 3/27) -Dr. Strange Vol. 2 -Claremont’s X-Men -Tales of Suspense featuring Iron Man (and Captain America) (read through #83 as of 5/10) -Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four (read through #50 and Annual #3 as of 6/25) -Lee/Kirby Thor -Silver Age Hawkman (read through Hawkman #5 as of 5/10) -Silver Age Martian Manhunter (read through 'Tec #258 as of 3/11) -Silver Age Blackhawk -Dreadstar -Hellboy/Mignolaverse (read Hellboy Vol. 5-7, BPRD 1946, 1947, 1948; Hellboy and the BPRD 1952) made progress on 6/11 of the titles, some just minor progress though, others significant progress. 3. continue my chronological read through of individual (not collected in trade) comics I own from 1970-onwards (currently in 1972) completed 1972 (4/6) Completed 1972, but haven't made any progress beyond that, and not sur eI will pick this one up any time soon. 4. continue my read/reread through of Howard prose and pastiches I own yeah no. Haven't read much prose at all this year so far. 5. continue to read as much Golden Age material I can get access to via trades or Unlimited (read the following GA material: Batman #3, Batman from New York World's Fair #2, Batman from Detective Comics #42-46) as of 3/11 Made a little headway on GA Batman early on but haven't revisited it in some time now. 6. start reading/rereading through the following runs I have completed and awaiting reads -Grell’s Green Arrow (read Longbow Hunters #1-3 and #1-4 as of 3/11) -Nexus (read magazine issues #1-6 as of 3/27) -Ms. Tree -Starslayer -Moench’s Spectre -Ostrander’s Spectre -the recent Zatanna series (2010-2011) (completed 3/11) -the 70s Phantom Stranger series -the 70s Ka-Zar series -Further Adventures of Indiana Jones (read #1-12 as of 6/25) -Arion, Lord of Atlantis -Secret History finished one series and made a start on 3 more of the 12 series listed. 7. continue to acquire issues of Savage Sword of Conan and Heavy Metal (in particular the 1977-1985 era) with an eye towards eventually completing runs have gotten many issues of both (lost track of how many) Started the year needing around 120 issues of SSOC to complete the run, currently only need 39, so made a chunk of progress on that. With Heavy Metal I completed the issues from 1977 and 1978, I only need 3 issues to complete 1979, 2 for 1980 and 6 for 1981, so made progress. Haven't done much for '82-'85, but have gotten a few issues. 8. work towards completing runs of the following series with an eye towards reading the runs… -Sandman Mystery Theatre (purchased 17/27 needed issues 1/12) -Tellos (completed) -Grimjack (+4 issues as of 5/10) -American Flagg! (+3 issues as of 5/10) -Ostrander’s Suicide Squad (purchases 6/13 needed issues 1/12) -Cheval Noir -Epic Illustrated (+1 issue as of 5/1) -Dark Horse Presents (+5 issues as of 5/10) -Kubert’s DC Tarzan run (+9 issues as of 5/10) lost track of exactly how many I added for each, only need the last 10 issue sto complete Sandman Mystery Theatre, only need 16 to complete American Flagg!, completed Tellos, and have added issues of every title on the list, (I've adde dto all the series except Epic Illustrated since the last time the tally was done in the quoted text). 9. continue to acquire trade collections to complete/work towards completing the following series: -Criminal -The Sixth Gun (completed all 8 trades of the main series, still need 3 spinoff series 3/27) -Fear Agent (acquired 1/2 needed trades early Jan) -Hellboy/BPRD/Mignolaverse (acquired 4 more Hellboy trades as of 5/10) -Usagi Yojimbo -Rachel Rising -First Kingdom Completed Hellboy VOl. 1-12, plus Hellboy and the BPRD, and a couple of BPRD trades. Completed all 8 volume sof Sixth Gun, waiting on final volume to be released. Picked up Vol. 2 of First Kingdom to go with the first volume I had. Still need 1 more volume of FearAgent, 2 volumes of Criminal and a bunch of Rachel Rising, Usagi and First Kingdom though. 10. continue to acquire works by the following creators: Moebius, Druillet, Eisner, Steranko, Kirby, Kubert, Frazetta, Pratt acquired 1 issues of Joe Kubert's Tor + 7 issues of Kubert's Tarzan(1/2)acquired Druillet's Delirius (2/18)acquired Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated #3 3/8acquired Corto Maltese: Under the Sign of Capicorn (5/5)also added various Kubert war covers Gotten more Kubert Tarzan since last updated, The Frazetta hardcover and a reprint edition of his Thund'a Tales, plus a few other things form these creators. Completed Capt. Victory from Kirby and picked up a bunch of other Kirby stuff too. 11. begin getting Cerebus, Strangers in Paradise and Love and Rockets in trade No joy here, haven't gotten any of any of the three series. 12 acquire 1 piece of original art (either sketch or page) Sandman original water color acquired 2/18 Mark A. So at the halfway point, I have made decent progress on most fronts, but have tailed off on some of the reading goals in recent weeks as I haven't had much reading time lately. Still overall satisfied with progress as we approach mid-year. -M

Half-way through the year, I'll do another check in.
Three and one-half of the main seven are now done, so I'm exactly half-way there.
I haven't been able to pick up too many classic books due to my job status changing in February and my access to disposable income drying up. Since my last update, outside of the ones noted above from 4/24/2016, the only things I've picked up were some additional random annuals, the first Warlock Marvel Masterpiece ($10 at Buckeye Con), and a bunch of $1 Flash issues from the post-Crisis series.
My birthday is in August, and my mother always gives me money to do with as I want (she long ago gave up on trying to buy me or my sister anything), so I may use that for catching up on some of the last few goals up there, although I may need to hold onto that in order to keep getting my monthly books unless I get a job between now and then.

I'm down to about a dozen more Caps needed for the Englehart run. No progress on the other two. Just got 8 more Caps in an order from MyComicShop, four more to go.
No progress on other two.
Finally got the last Cap I needed a couple of weeks ago. One of them, #168, was at the LCS for $100 because it was the first appearance of Baron Zemo Jr. No way I was going to pay that. Eventually I found one at a local show and got it for $4 in great condition. So I was pretty happy about that. The Cat and the 100 Page Super-Spectacular have made no progress. Another show is coming up next month so maybe I'll find some then.

I have to fill my Thor collection. I need 36 issues between 200-300, and 43 issues between 400-502 to have a straight run from 199-502. I now need 34 issues between 200-300 and only 4 issues between 400-502 to complete Thor v.1. In all I aquired 41 issues in this run so far this year. Off the top of my head, I believe I've added another 10 issues from 126-199.

October 1st check-in:
1. Buy no more than 200 back issues. Maybe finish my Batman #100 and up run and my Avengers #85-300 run. Possibly assemble a Micronauts run. Buy more books for my Doug Moench reviews. (Yeah, I definitely did not attain this goal. Probably purchased around 350 books this year, but I did complete three of those four runs in the process)
2. Read at least 300 unread books in my collection (completed)
3. Re-read at least 100 books in my collection (completed)
4. Do at least 12 Batman reviews (1 down. Waaaaay behind on this)
5. Do at least 12 Superman reviews (completed. Still want to do more!)
6. Do at least 6 THUNDER agents reviews (4 down)
7. Do at least 6 Nick Fury reviews (2 down)
8. Review the remaining Warren stories, and then review every b/w magazine Doug Moench wrote for Marvel. (On my way. I intend to give this primary attention this month)
9. Start the Post-Crisis Justice League thread and get in at least 12 reviews (completed. Still want to do more)
Still possible for me to reach all but Goal #1 this year, though the Batman and Nick Fury reviews are waaaaay behind at this point. October will primarily be focused on Moench (with a little Teen Titans and Justice League on the side). I'll get in Nick Fury, Batman, and THUNDER Agents when I can. Three months left to do it all!

Goals for this year will be as follows:
1) Catch up on reading. Waaaay behind still. This feels like it will forever be a goal lol. 2) Purchase ASM #50. This is the year! 3) Purchase one of Marvel Spotlight #5, Hulk Annual #1 (Steranko cover) or Tomb of Dracula 10 4) More ASM issues between #60-90. Time to complete this stretch. 5) A toy biz toy! Preferably the Scorpion figure (one of my favs from the animated 90s series) Yes yes, my goals...well let us take a look. 1) Still a lot to read but I have been plugging away. I acquired a long run of Silver Surfer from the late 80's/ early 90's series that I am nowhere near done reading. Would say 200-250 books unread still! 2) Have not bought this, unfortunately. Came along some other big books instead 3) Another miss on this goal... 4) Well I did purchase a few...#18, 28, 29, 32, 77, 84. I upgraded #117 and #102 (second Morbius). So I filled in some stuff earlier than expected and hope to grab a few more from this run before year's end. 5) Yes check this one off!

Daredevil, Daredevil, Daredevil. I'll probably go for completing the Marvel Knights series as I only need the first 30-ish issues. I'll also be on the lookout for key Silver and Bronze issues if that stupid (awesome) Netflix show doesn't inflate them too much. As you can see, I decided to focus on the Bronze Age issues.
