Inspired by mrp, I'll do a Q1 review of my progress on my goals. Not much this year in terms of new buying (volume-wise, although cost-wise it will be pretty intensive). Looking to pick up the following books specifically: 1. Captain America #118 - I already have this issue, but it is beat up (we're talking maybe 2.0), and I'd just like to have a nicer copy in my collection 2. Ghost Rider #2 - this will complete the series - accomplished 1/2/20163. Conan the Barbarian #'s 15 and 21 - this will complete my run from #15 to #115 4. Fantastic Four #112 - stupid expensive Thing vs Hulk issue. Only one I need to complete #110 to #611 - accomplished 1/2/20165. Howard the Duck #'s 1, 13, and 33 - these will complete the series 6. Star Wars #'s 42, 68, and 81 - these will complete the series (I may just pick up the second Omnibus, which is cheaper than buying 42 and 68 in floppy form - darn Boba Fett appearances) 7. Possibly Werewolf by Night #'s 1 and 2 - I've given up my previous goal of getting a #32, only because I don't value it nearly as much as the current market rate and I have a reprint of it already, so I have the story to read. Other books I will pick up if I run across them (but not really actively search for) are some missing issues of Frankenstein, Godzilla, Red Wolf, and Skull the Slayer, as well as some of the Giant-Size books that I don't have. I also will buy reasonably-priced lower-number issues of Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil, Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man if I find them (although I have a lot of the DD and IM issues in Masterworks format already). Might also buy some John Carter issues if I can get them for a $1 or two, although the Omnibus can be picked up pretty inexpensively and that might save me time, effort, and cost to get the complete run. I also intend to pick up the 2nd and 3rd Fantastic Four Omnibus editions, which will just leave a gap in my collection from #94 to #109 to close (although I have a couple of random issues in that gap already). Two of the main seven are done, and I am planning on going to a ballroom show in Columbus, OH in April to hopefully work on a handful of the others on that list. As for the secondary list, I've picked up five Frankenstein and two Red Wolf issues as I find them, and I recently completed both the Godzilla and Skull the Slayer runs as well as grabbed four of the five Shanna the She-Devil books (LOVE my Bronze Age Marvels!!!!!!!). I also picked up some DD's in the #70-100 range two weekends ago, as well as one Incredible Hulk, but no more ASM or IM issues this year. I've decided against getting any John Carter books for now, as I am wanting to concentrate more on the other goals at this time, although if I can get the Omnibus for cheap, I may go that route. Also looking to possibly consign my New Mutants #98 and the two Deadpool mini-series at my LCS to fund the purchase of the FF Omnibus editions as well as some other things.

For 2016 I'd like to: Fill in the Steve Englehart run on Captain America. I got a couple of back issues (155,156) of this run for Christmas, and have several issues bought from back in the day. I need around 20 or so issues to complete. Fill in more of the 100 Page Super Spectaculars from the original group (the DC-# issues). I still need 3 or 4, depending if I get the War issue (DC-9). Finish the Cat series. I have #3, need #1, 2, & 4. My LCS has all 4 of the series, just need to build up in-store credits to get them at half price. Overall, relatively doable. I'm down to about a dozen more Caps needed for the Englehart run. No progress on the other two. Just got 8 more Caps in an order from MyComicShop, four more to go.
No progress on other two.

More '40s and '50s stuff. Some Toth, some Wayne Howard, some Kubert. I'd like to get a representative sampling of my favorite artists.

We might have to resuscitate the comic swap thread. I have a lot of bronze age stuff that I want to get rid of.

I bought a bunch of Authority V.1 books and now I have a run from 1-27. That completes the issues that I needed for that run.

A little less than halfway into the year, and it looks like I'm on-track for each of my goals. Two have already been completed. Last year, I made the goal to focus more on reading what I already own over buying too much more, and I plan to stick to that. 1. Buy no more than 200 back issues. Maybe finish my Batman #100 and up run and my Avengers #86-300 run. Possibly assemble a Micronauts run. Buy more books for my Doug Moench reviews. (roughly 25 issues purchased as of May 10, mostly for the Moench reviews) 2. Read at least 300 unread books in my collection (currently at 185 as of May 10) 3. Re-read at least 100 books in my collection (completed) 4. Do at least 12 Batman reviews (1 down as of May 10) 5. Do at least 12 Superman reviews (2 down as of May 10) 6. Do at least 6 THUNDER agents reviews (4 down as of May 10) 7. Do at least 6 Nick Fury reviews (2 down as of May 10) 8. Review the remaining Warren stories, and then review every b/w magazine Doug Moench wrote for Marvel. (18 Warren stories left as of May 10) 9. Start the Post-Crisis Justice League thread and get in at least 12 reviews (completed)

I have some short and long term goals. Not sure how well I will be able to meet these goals, especially the long term, but I feel if I stay focused on something I might have more a chance of doing so. So I will have short, long and collected goals.
Short-term
Deathlock (8 issues) Doom 2099 (12 issues) Ghost Rider 2099 (15 issues) (The New) Defenders (15 issues) Ravage 2099 (15 issues) 2099 Unlimited (6 issues)
Long-term
Batman-Shadow of the Bat (53 issues) Dreadstar (29 issues, all First; I never read past Starlin's run) Punisher 2099 (33 issues; though I am on the fence on this one, depends on how much I want to complete the 2099 universe) Suicide Squad (45 issues)
Batman-Legends of the Dark Knight, I am going to try and break into two goals. First to get what I am missing between #1 and the last issue I bought #162, which is 53 issues. This, will be the first one I am going for, and even more so between #1 and #100. The second goal will be the following 53 issues after #162.
Collected goals
I am either going to search for the last 3 volumes of Starman Omnibus, which will greatly hinder on the price I can find them in. When I bought the first three all at once I got them at an insanely good price ($13-$14) and in excellent shape. Otherwise I probably would have started out with single issues. If I don't think I want to pay the current price of omnibus ($35-45) then I will go with finishing the series in singles which I can get drastically cheaper.
I want to finish Cerebus, though I am so far behind on the reading thread, that I will probably grab a volume here and there with amazon orders. As I have three birthdays coming up in the next 4 months and the TPB seems to stay consistently under $20, so I do not feel in a rush to buy these.
If I can stay focused on one goal of these at a time, I feel I get back the reading comics bug and perhaps participate here more than just on a social level, and maybe even get the desire to resurrect one of two aging review threads I started.

My comic book goals of 2016 if and whenever I get the chance to do it.
-continue on with buying back issues of original Alpha Flight buying old single back issues from the comic book shop. Rebuild my childhood Alpha Flight collection
Other things from the comic shop when I can afford it.
-buy a couple of old Toybiz X Men figures from the comic book shop. There's alot of goodies
-continue on with buying back issues for original Uncanny X Men. Regular stuff after the Bishop storyline. Recently I bought issue 312 that has Storms friend Yukio or whatever. Not going to buy every old issue of uncanny x men but some here and there to fill in a few gaps.
- buy issues 101 to 118 of Wolverine series 2
- finally going to buy a long box for once.
- buy at least one new comic book series from Marvel or dc. I'll be late in the game but oh well.
