Hopefully the mods have access to his email, and can reach out and tell him that he was in the right and is missed.

what? Oh my gods Taxi self-deleted?! He was an awesome person! Yes. Yes he was. I hope he comes back. Hopefully the mods have access to his email, and can reach out and tell him that he was in the right and is missed. Unfortunately we don't. When a person self-deletes their account, all that info disappears for us too.

Well that sucks.
First MechaGodzilla bails, and now taxidriver deletes his account too? Hell, at this point, the only regular participant left in the Wrestling thread is codystarbuck, and I don't know or follow wrestling nearly close enough to keep up with him.
If either of you guys are reading this, PLEASE COME BACK!! I'll make you cookies if you do (OK, probably not and you wouldn't want to eat them even if I did, but it seems like a reasonable bribe to just offer).

I thought Mecha left over personal life issues, not because of anything here?

I thought Mecha left over personal life issues, not because of anything here? Oh, I know that. It's just that he was a regular participant in a lot of threads and was an all-around great member, and his presence is definitely missed.

I share something like the reactive reflex of someone overly analytical correcting a light-hearted comment. I'll try to check in with him via email.

But to be fair to everyone, this entire forum is about over analyzing and nitpicking the comic world. Either it was just taxi having a bad day or maybe some bad feelings he harbored for some of the other posters.
There is said it.

Either it was just taxi having a bad day or maybe some bad feelings he harbored for some of the other posters. There is said it. Your post above is the "type" of problem Icc. You don't know what taxidriver's reasons are and you have no right or reason to second guess him or suggest reasons that he has issues with other posters. That is "rude" in a sense and many can and would take offense at such presumptions and consider it as a personal "attack" upon them. We tend to forget "personal" aspects when connecting on the internet and make presumptions which are NOT spoken one to one but are placed "out there" for EVERYONE to see and read. Sometimes it goes like my mama taught me: if you haven't anything nice to say then maybe you shouldn't say it at all. Sometimes a word or remark is hurtful without it intending to be. I have noted that at times some of the CCF'ers remarks or responses here can come across as being a bit snarky or rude in their quick retorts and responses. Differences in ages and attitudes can cause miscommunication to escalate rather quickly and myself, I take nothing as a personal affront or attack unless it is deliberate and intentionally stated or presented as such. I was taught that not everyone thinks, acts or responds in the same manner and that many a time it is better to hold your tongue and truly think something through before shooting off a remark that might otherwise be taken as rude or offensive by another person. No telling where such remarks can lead into discussions which may take us, and usually it is a point of diminishing or no return which no amount of apologizing or explanation can undue once the damage is done. And I still love ya and respect ya my brother from another mother!

Differences in ages and attitudes can cause miscommunication to escalate rather quickly... This is true. I also think at this time nerves are a bit frayed with the world situation so small irritations can seem worse than usual. I also have noticed some posters that come across as snarky don't really care that they do. At least it seems that way since their behavior doesn't change and I don't see them attempting to apologize.

I don't really see how Icc's post was rude or combative? He provided some logical guesses as to why Taxi abruptly deleted his account and left. Based on the posts Taxi seemed to be reacting to, by all accounts it seems a massive over-reaction compared to the "wrong," and being stressed out with the state of the world or some unspoken feelings seem like pretty reasonable guesses for such a strong reaction. As someone else said, nitpicking and quibbling over minutiae is an inherent part of a comics board, and someone having a level 10 reaction to at worst a level 1 or 2 infraction is pretty extreme.
I'm sure folks are sorry to have upset someone so much they have left, but it seems to be Taxi's problem, for whatever reason. This board is already incredibly civil compared to the internet at large. I'm afraid if the members worry any more than we do about trying not to offend we will be spending all our efforts walking on eggshells and leave no room for interesting conversation.

I could get defensive and respond in anger, I could ignore it or I could make a joke and deflect it with humor. That's most of the choices that the members use here, and my post just addressed what is a reasonable guess because of the exchange between Taxi and mrp. And "type"of problem is harsh but I'll take it. More often than not , I don't get bent out of shape with some of the snappy answers that are thrown around in our forum. Bro, we can fight and still meet at moms house for dinner.

I did hear back from taxidriver, it's up to him if he decides to leave the door closed to posting here, I won't try to interfere with that. I can be overly analytical sometimes myself, I remember someone in another place a few years back getting angry at me in a discussion about the Lord Of The Rings and my advancing the line of thought that aspects of it are correlated to WWII... I backed off figuring some unknowable nerve had been hit... then other times I might have little patience with something like that myself (not wanting/expecting to go deep on something) and a lecture would rub my fur the wrong way. The Bob Dobbs philosophy about 'give slack, get slack' may be a good fit for this kind of thing?

I haven't had any recent direct contact with Taxi, as I don't have his e-mail. We've only exchanged personal messages here. I've always found him to be friendly, respectful, light-hearted and wanting to engage in discussion, even when the exchange between us is that someone else seems to be having some issues and is reacting rather extreme (ironically, we have had this exchange). I hope it is nothing that would prevent him from returning, if he wants to, as I would love to interact with him again. I'm guilty of snark, from time to time and certainly write reviews with a certain sense of the smart alec; but, I try to be conscious of how things might read and have rewritten post 3 or 4 times, before saving it. Even if Taxi over-reacted, it still behooves us to be conscious of how our posts read on the cold monitor. not saying self-censor your ideas; but, maybe consider your phrasing a little more. If you are out there and see this Taxi, please come on back. We miss you brother!

Here’s a “There. I said it.” to divert any bad feelings all towards me:
Comics are only getting better, and anyone sticking to only our nostalgic books of old is really missing out.
