Explosion and Guns. Not one of my favorite entries, but this was a lot more difficult challenge than I expected.

Agreed. This week was quite challenging.

This was one of those weeks where I went with the first cover to come to mind (after making sure no one else had already posted it).

Explosion and Guns. Not one of my favorite entries, but this was a lot more difficult challenge than I expected. I feel the same way, but reading this and remembering that you work for NASA just reminded me that there is a good kind of explosion: the controlled explosion of rocket fuel that made it possible for you guys to put a man on the moon. Still can't think of any good covers that made use of that sort of imagery, though. Maybe if it had occurred to me earlier I might have come up with something.

Firworks were also given as an option. Given the seeming love of Americans for fireworks, I would assume there would have to be 100s of covers featuring fireworks.

It's actually voting time folks, so I'll start. Lots of options, this one didn't quite fit the theme as well as others, but I loved that Spectre cover, so my vote goes to Shaxper.

I vote for all of them, because they really are that great. And for the count, I love the joyful "kill it with fire" abandonment of MatthewP's entry just a little more than the rest.

An A-bomb explosion, a dinosaur and Rex the Wonder Dog?! This cover is a motorcycle and a gorilla short of imploding under the weight of its sheer awesomeness!
Scott Harris, FTW!

I was ready to vote for the Wally Wood Weird Science cover but Slam_Bradley gets my nod instead

This Captain Marvel cover is all kinds of goofy. He's in outer space and earth is blowing 3 pieces off instead of just collapsing from the force. Rob Allen FTW.

Tough to narrow down a winner this week as everyone's entry was so freaking good. But I'm going with Scott Harris

I normally go for older covers, but this week I'm voting for Beast of Yucca Flats's Dave Johnson masterpiece. I love its pop art sensibilities and that it tells a story rather giving us a snapshot of one.
