Just to prove that bad covers are not limited to the superhero genre, or to 1990s onward: Ah, Tony Tallarico, the Colletta of pencillers! In fairness, for a cover drawn with blunt crayons, that's actually quite... erm, well, ... it has a certain.... OK, I got nothing.

Was this the inspiration for that terrible Liefeld Captain America Pic?

Was this the inspiration for that terrible Liefeld Captain America Pic? Looks like Bouncing Boy and Blok had a baby.

Am I the only one who just sees Ricardo Montalban? Possibly, I'm not familiar with his art - does he draw with crayons as well?

Was this the inspiration for that terrible Liefeld Captain America Pic? I can't decide which is the worst part of that - the sheer anatomically cluelessness of the drawing (seriously, WTF is supposed to be happening with his mid-section - how can his abs be as big as his chest, how can the character be turned away from us while the far side of his chest sticks out further?!) or the classic Liefeld "random element floating in space that is supposed to be part of the rest of the picture, but doesn't work because he has no frakkin' clue about perspective": in this case the Image "I", which is supposed to be part of the costume, but instead is turned more towards the viewer than the character is.

Yeah. Batman is almost too damn ripped to fit on the cover of his comic! I think it's an original idea, very well executed. Me too - I think that's a great cover. Maybe not so much - especially after reading Holy Terror

If we're rating bad Liefled covers.... What exactly is causing Thor to have that facial expression? Is Cap prepping for battle or taking a squat? Did he get some On Thor's shoe? It wa sa terrible terrible first impression for a terrible book. -M By Liefeld standards, that's actually not that bad - certainly in comparison with his full figure work, or anywhere he's required to show perspective, or composition, or figures of different heights. There's just a hint of it in Thor's hammer, where the perspective on the hammer head is all wrong, but otherwise, while not remotely good art it's not his worst - certainly compared to his interior art (I think that issue is the one that ends with panels of his classic broken-spine pony women), it's a masterpiece

(Well, not that kind, anyway.) And is that line "Pure Love Inside" on the guy's shirt, or are we supposed to think it's the cover? A little eechy either way.

Yeah. Batman is almost too damn ripped to fit on the cover of his comic! I think it's an original idea, very well executed. (I will defend Frank Miller's stuff all day.) I can accept the cover more now than when it first came out; still, it doesn't fit stylistically with the other issues. Frank Miller doesn't get called out near as much as he should for his art in my opinion. I know taste is relative and all, but damn, just cause he's a good writer shouldn't give his art a pass. Especially in DKR. Ick.

What's wrong with constipated Superman? He's business in front, party in back. (I think Bolland is channelling Supes' rage for that mullet.) He's upset that no matter how hard he tries, his long wavy hair still isn't as long and wavy as Wonder Woman's. The grimace is because she won't tell him what shampoo and conditioner she uses.
