Tell me that isn't a straight-up ripoff of wonder Woman's crest on cap's cowl there! It's like he pasted the eagle's head from the original WW costume over the 80s WW logo.

It's kind of frustrating that Liefeld got rich off of the bad taste of the 90's comic fan. I think it had to do with "right place and the right time." He was on New Mutants, mutants were huge, they launched X-Force, etc. Not that John Romita Jr. isn't a success (I know some don't like his style, but I love his uniqueness) but why didn't he blow up to Liefeld/Lee/McFarlane levels in the early 90's? He had actual talent, an out-there style, drew Spider-Man and Daredevil and is a great storyteller.

I'm less concerned with the Cap figure (for once, Liefeld's anatomical limitations aren't glaring) as with the shield - what happened to cause it to be bent in half at that shadow-line?
EDIT: looking back on the thread, I see Nowhere Man got there first with this observation.

This is one of the only covers that really, actually, literally hurts my head to look at. I really should apologize for even sharing this, but... Seriously, just try to identify what's what on this cover, and how the various pieces fit together. The little guy in green on the right is easy, but everything else? Ouch!

Sheesh! Never seen it before, but that is one butt-ugly comic book cover.

That's really a great example of the color killing the art--the drawing's not bad, and I've seen worse composition, but the limited palatte turns everything to mush.

No, the drawing is not really "bad" bad, but I'm not sure whether the color helps or not. If this were black and white, I'd be hard pressed to identify anything in this cover. Thanks to the color, I can at least spot a part of a hand grasping something in the upper left, and the partial cat's face right above it. And the color helps me to (eventually) figure out that the big boot in the lower left of the front cover half is not connected to the pair of thighs with which it shares an ill-advised tangent, but instead belongs to the guy on the back cover half, the one with the red face (who is holding in his mouth a...a...umm...a belt? a scabbard? a stick? with, um...a pair of...balls? attached to the bottom of it? I'm spending too much effort trying to parse this monstrosity.

Bring on the thread necromancy! I was randomly reminded how much I detest this cover today. It's probably not objectively the worst comic book cover, but it's certainly my least favorite:

I missed this thread. These can get kind of toxic so hoping that feelings don't get too bruised if someone likes something another person hates. This Ben Dunn cover is the first thing I usually think of... bleh.

The entire 70's Shazam run. How did that title ever appeal to people? The fact that they had two photo covers in the first 6 issues was terrible. Especially this monstrosity. Is the kid in his lap coughing? Trying not to laugh at how terrible this comic is? Making fart sounds with his mouth? Trying not to throw up because Shazam has body odour? Whispering to the kids on the floor to run? Infinite possibilities with this bad infinity cover.

Wahhh...? Mocking one of my favorite comics of the '70s Shazam!? I thought the Shazam! comic was great... of course I was probably only 4 or 5 years old, but I looked for it, Plop! and Supergirl (if there was no Scamp comic). I didn't care what was on the cover, I liked it. Great title, especially if Tawky Tawny or Mr. Mind was in it!
